Education boss congratulates primaries over SATS results

He said: “The national performance tables published today show that more of our schools than ever before have achieved above average progress in both English and maths leading to high levels of attainment against the national measures.”

SATS: Where is your primary in the table: English

Here is the table of SATS results in English. Needless to say, statistics can be interpreted in a number of ways. Chadwell St Mary's results stand out but so does the fact that they only have 16 students whereas Herringham have 57. Some schools such as Thameside appear to have a "high turnover" of students.

South Essex College investing in Thurrock’s future

If planning permission is granted, the project will be paid for by a combination of a bank loan to the College and the sale of the current site at Woodview, which will see 100% of finance raised by that sale invested back into the ambitious new College building. Introduced by a humorous voice over as the electric 80s, a vision of red and green erupted onto the stage, exploding into the lively hit Kids in America with mature, professional vocals only to be expected from a William Edwards performance. The dancers suffused the room with excitement as teary-eyed parents shone with pride, watching their children taking the stage by storm.

TOTALLY Scrooged is the latest Ockendon Academy performance from the Eriff Drive school. The show is on tonight (Thursday) and Friday at 7.30pm. Students £1 and adults £3.

Stifford Clays head makes impassioned plea for her job

STIFFORD CLAYS Infant school head, Linda Catton made a desperate plea for her job at a meeting of the Labour-run council cabinet last night. Her appearance came as Thurrock Council are deciding whether to close Stifford Clays Infant School and expand Stifford Clays Junior School to form a primary school.

Ormiston Park: Ofsted say “Good” and on the way to outstanding

Ofsted also stated that the Academy is providing a good and rapidly improving education for its students. With all of the development that Ormiston Park Academy has been doing over the past few years, this achievement is certainly appreciated amongst its staff and truly shows that the hard work is paying off.

Quarry Hill in full yuletide voice at Lakeside

THE QUARRY HILL singers were once again out and about in the borough. Led by the inimitable Steve Titford, they sang their hearts out in their fine new t-shirts and they raised a grand total of £136.72. They will be out and about at the Grays Townswomens Guild as well as Ikea later in the week, so look out for them.
