THEY CERTAINLY do things with a certain panache at Gateway Academy and their Wow Day was no exception. The whole day was given over to, what was that word again, FUN! From a roller disco (ouch!) to a keepie-uppie session to a whole raft of obstacle courses and It's a Knockout style challenges.
PARENTS, students and staff packed the hall at Hassenbrook School in Stanford-le-Hope to celebrate all the achievements of the Year 10 pupils. Once again, the standard of achievement was extremely high and you could see how proud the school are of the Year 10 cohort.
PARENTS, pupils, staff and students had a wonderful time last night at the Thurrock Junior School Music Festival. There was a packed house at the Civic Hall to see students from a variety of schools across the borough.
Eleven intrepid explorers from Palmer’s College will be swapping Essex for Ecuador on Wednesday. The group - nine students and two teachers, plus an expedition leader from Outlook Expeditions – will jet off to Ecuador for a month long trip which will see them explore the South American country and take part in community projects.
PUPILS, staff and visitors to Stifford Clays Infant and Nursery school enjoyed a multicultural day by dressing in cultural clothes and tasting food from around the world. Food was tasted from France, Italy, India, China and Mexico. Croissants, samosas, noodles, fajitas and pasta were made and cooked – led by the schools ‘Let’s Get Cooking’ club.
Our students, from Year 7 to Sixth form, were very excited about meeting Zoë and had researched and prepared questions for her. Zoë certainly didn’t disappoint us – she was amazing! Her honest, thoughtful and frank responses were refreshing and insightful, and her humour was as infectious as her laugh. The students loved her.”

WARREN primary in Chafford Hundred played host to a number of schools for a deaf engagement day. There was a whole host of activities: a music room, a petting zoo, there was cooking going on and a good old disco.

All 27 students who completed the course gained either a Diploma or Certificate, with the majority of the group achieving grades exceeding three A grades at A-level. The Palmer’s College average IB grade is 29, slightly higher than the world average score.
THE STAR of the hit Harry Potter films and BBC's My Family comedy series, Zoe Wannamaker is holding an exclusive one-to-one Q and A session with the students of Gateway Academy. The session takes place at the National Theatre on the South Bank in London on Thursday.
Receiving news that the Qualification and Curriculum Development Agency (QCDA) found no evidence of irregularities with SATs papers, the governing body stated: "We are pleased with the outcome and would like to thank the QCDA for their swift investigation and assurance. When schools receive complaints of this nature it affects everyone.
IT WAS an emotional night as it was the last time that deputy head Ralph Henderson MBE addressed the assembled crowd. The whole evening was dedicated to service and achievement and there was no greater example than the forty years that Ralph has given to the school and education in general.
Ormiston Park Academy was recently commended for their outstanding success, their fantastic OFSTED inspection, and their rapidly improving GCSE results and were congratulated by inviting Head teacher, Tess Walker to a glam ceremony with World Cup winning Goalkeeper, Gordon Banks, to help celebrate the success.
