Council and Ikea offer collection point for Christmas trees

THURROCK Council is working with a local business to help ensure real Christmas trees are disposed of properly and safely in the New Year. For a week in January, the IKEA store at West Thurrock is offering a collection point for all Christmas trees and the council will pick them up and dispose of them safely – making sure they are composted.

Flood warning for Purfleet and North Stifford area

"River levels are expected to start falling over the next 12 hours (0800 hrs on Dec 23rd) although levels will remain high. No significant rainfall is expected until the early hours of Monday morning." This is the second time this month that a flood warning has been issued for this area.

M25 closed due to serious accident

M25 closed and stationary traffic clockwise before J30, A13 (Lakeside), because of a serious accident involving two cars and recovery work. Diversion in operation - follow the Hollow Triangle on the A127 out to Halfway House, and the A128 south to rejoin the A13 at Orsett.

A13 Essex - A13 in North Stifford closed and queueing traffic westbound between the A1012 junction and Lakeside, because of an accident involving three vehicles.
