The 1st XI entertained Brookweald at Blackshots in Division 2 and batted first after winning the toss. Skipper Mark O’Neill opening made 25 but the home side lost regular wickets to the bowling of Joyce (3-48) and Aziz (3-42) until Matt Hills (72) and Ross Fullbrook (63) got to the middle.
Mark Hope made 50 for Old Southendians before being caught and bowled by Lewis Crooks. Crooks also removed Tim Breakey for 34 before Bradley Mason removed the next four wickets to leave Old Southendians on 132-9. Masons's hat-trick included Steve Tomlin bowled round his legs, Kyle Smith stumped by Terry Hurrell and Chris Sorrell LBW.

This Semi Final will be contested by four Countries comprising of five riders in each team and will be raced over 25 heats. Danny Joyce and Paul Bennett both smashed unbeaten centuries in this Essex Sunday League east division match at North Stifford. Joyce hit 120 in a knock which included 13 fours and one maximum. He put on 121 for the first wicket with Roy Heffernan, who was caught behind with his personal tally on 44.
