Rugby: Thurrock hammer Hammersmith to show championship credentials

Thurrock once again turned in a great performance as they hosted the visitors for the first time in the clubs history. But the writing was on the wall for the ‘hammers’ as they are known, when a great forward try from Garth Tucker, then a Sam Boshell try, converted by Michael Stanley who also added a penalty to lead 15-0 within the same amount of minutes.

Rugby festival: Success for under-tens in mini-fest

Thurrock managed to go through to the final by most points scored in the group. The Final was against Heathfield from East Sussex who were a very well drilled team and at half time neither team had managed to cross the line due to some ferocious tackling from both sides.

Emily’s the star as T-Birds take apart Hove

Playing away in wet conditions the T-Birds were always on top in this dogged encounter. Playing against a big pack Thurrock had to dig deep to enable their speedy backs the room to play their special brand of rugby.

Hockey: Firsts disappointed at defeat to lowly Bar

Thurrock’s heads did not go down and just before half time Matt Gaut’s persistent run created an opening for debutant Ross Austin to slap home to once again even the score line 2-2 and this is how it stayed going into the half time team talk.

Hockey: Ladies show the way with two fine victories

Thurrock Ladies I had a good result beating Sevenoaks IV by two goals to nil. The first goal was scored by Tessa Ing from a short corner and the second was via an excellent pass from Louise Pike to Alison Bonner who shot at the top of the D straight into the goal! Keeper Lauren Marshall had made her debut in goal for the Firsts and with the solid defence of Parrott, Ellis and White, kept the Sevenoaks team at bay. The midfield took control and stopped the opposition from attacking and breaking down their play with Natalie Beardwell playing really well on the left.

Cricket: Belhus join Orsett at the top of the league

The Belhus "A" team achieved a six-wicket win over their "B" team counterparts, as Joe Dalton picked up two wickets for just two runs from three overs, while Eathan Morris picked up one wicket for only six runs, also off three overs.
