Rounders All Year Round

Indoor Rounders is a new and exciting version of the classic outdoor game. Sessions will be available in Thurrock every week from October leading up to Christmas, and will be led by a Rounders England qualified coach - consisting of skills, drills, small games, and fun match-play.

It’s Not The End Of Rico!

Both Richardson and Ljung are sure to be given a great reception by the fans at the Hammers next home meeting, which takes place at 8pm this Friday, 24th September, at the Arena-Essex Raceway. That meeting will see the Eastbourne Eagles as the opposition in the 2nd leg of their Knockout Cup tie. The 1st leg of this mouth watering encounter will take place the previous evening, Thursday 23rd September, at the Eagles Arlington Stadium.

Fire Crews Free Horse From Ditch

Crews used lines to rescue a horse stuck in a ditch beside the Mardyke at South Ockendon. The rescue was delayed by difficult access to the animal but by 07:48 hrs, the horse had been freed unharmed.

Big Cup Week For Hammers

It’s a big week for the Lakeside Hammers Speedway team as they defend their Elite League Knockout Cup this Friday, 24th September, at the Arena-Essex Raceway against arch rivals and 2008 Cup winners the Eastbourne Eagles.

Further Thurrock scores came from Barton (2), Walsh (2) and Millsom, with Gola Jnr scoring the try of the game, which involved some of the pack and all of the backs in a free flowing move. There was also a solo effort when Cotter went in alone under the posts. Cotter also kicked a few penalties and conversions to seal a determined, but dispirited Rochford side.

Bulphan WI: July/Aug Events

Nine of our members visited Millwood WI, in Woodham Ferrers, to hear about the Olympic site and 2 of our members visited Chafford WI to learn more about card-making and scrap-booking. We were made most welcome and learned a lot on both occasions. 6 of our members and 4 Orsett members manned the WI stall in the Hobbies and Handicrafts tent at the Orsett Show – there was lot of interest shown, and nationally WI membership is soaring.
