“Keep Aveley tidy” pleas councillor

"Every Monday I visit all the parks in my ward, its something the ward councillors have worked hard to improve and sought funding from various bodies with contributions from forums. However I'm very upset with the amount of litter being left everywhere. In Aveley recreation park alone the council have supplied and empty weekly three litter bins & two dog waste bins. Yet the grass is littered with sweet wrappers, bottles and crisp packets.

Britvic renew multi-million pound contract for West Thurrock

Soft drinks giant Britvic has renewed its warehousing contract with Wincanton and expanded it distribution contract with Eddie Stobart for a further three years. Wincanton has also secured an additional storage unit in West Thurrock which will hold around 5,000 pallets and serve the drinks company’s customers in the local area.

Chemical spillage at Tilbury Docks

Firefighters confirmed that the spillage involved a corrosive liquid called paraquat dichloride which is a marine pollutant. At 04:42 hrs, the officer in charge reported that a container carrying the substance had become dislodged from a contractor unit and was on its side with the leakage.

Investigating officer, Pc Clare Archer, said: “We believe the box may have been taken by a sliver Transit van, so I would ask anyone that remembers seeing this to contact police immediately. Fatal on the A13 this morning

A man has died following a collision that occured on the A13 this morning, Tuesday, October 5 at around 7am. The collision took place on the A13 Southend bound just between the M25 and Grays exits and involved a lorry and a car.
