These have got agencies out into the heart of their local communities to listen to what concerns residents and affects their quality of life; do something positive about it; then feedback what’s been done. Staff got Ikea involved to design and decorate the library. Space, light, colour and comfort. It is also funky, so that the students feel comfortable in the library.
Miss Ami Cooper, a teacher at Corringham Primary School, added: “This is an excellent opportunity for the students to learn through practical hands on experience, without the normal constraints found in schools. Some of the children who do not normally respond well in a classroom environment have really excelled at the task, and the teamwork has been impressive.”
THE VARIETY of acts at T-Fest was quite staggering. We only have a few films left in the locker but one of them was this short but wonderful piece by the Royal Opera House team.
Jayne Gedden, Treasurer of the PTA, has rested her weary hands and calculator after a day of counting the spoils. ‘The return on the day has been a financial triumph for the PTA. We have achieved almost £3000 profit, which is quite unbelievable. We are grateful for the sponsorship and the attendance by all the individuals who helped run the activities.

THE CALM under pressure award for T-Fest has to go to Klair who had to stop mid-flow for the little matter of a Helicopter landing in the middle of her performance. However, Klair took up where she left off and put in a sparkling set.
NINE Thurrock swimmers were recently selected to represent Essex County ASA at the regional inter-counties swimming championships in Ipswich. The nine swimmers swam in a selection of events and helped Essex to a third place finish behind Hertfordshire and Suffolk. Thurrock’s representatives were:-

On Sunday, July 4, a 17-year-old girl from Upminster in east London was arrested in connection with this ongoing investigation. She is currently on police bail until Saturday, September 25 pending further enquiries.
So, T-Fest was privileged to have a performance by three of the stars of the film. The film is based on blending ballet and street dance, so it was fitting that the performance did the same.
Four of Open Doors students, amongst others, up and down the UK, auditioned for 'Sell a Door Theatre Company' to perform a month’s run of 'The Railway Children' at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe festival with a professional cast. The cast are currently in rehearsals in Thurrock.
