Primary Pupils Catapulted To Success

Miss Ami Cooper, a teacher at Corringham Primary School, added: “This is an excellent opportunity for the students to learn through practical hands on experience, without the normal constraints found in schools. Jayne Gedden, Treasurer of the PTA, has rested her weary hands and calculator after a day of counting the spoils. ‘The return on the day has been a financial triumph for the PTA. We have achieved almost £3000 profit, which is quite unbelievable. We are grateful for the sponsorship and the attendance by all the individuals who helped run the activities.

Four Thurrock Schools Apply For Academy Status

Ockendon School, Treetops School, Beacon Hill and Gable Hall have all applied for the scheme that would see the schools develop independence from the local education authority whilst also benefitting from possible new buildings.

Swimming: East Region Inter Counties 2010

NINE Thurrock swimmers were recently selected to represent Essex County ASA at the regional inter-counties swimming championships in Ipswich. The nine swimmers swam in a selection of events and helped Essex to a third place finish behind Hertfordshire and Suffolk. Thurrock’s representatives were:-

Teenage Girl Arrested In Rape Probe.

On Sunday, July 4, a 17-year-old girl from Upminster in east London was arrested in connection with this ongoing investigation. She is currently on police bail until Saturday, September 25 pending further enquiries.

Breaking Point: Street Dance 3D: Live at T-Fest 2010

So, T-Fest was privileged to have a performance by three of the stars of the film. The film is based on blending ballet and street dance, so it was fitting that the performance did the same.

Open Door: Heading To Edinburgh

Four of Open Doors students, amongst others, up and down the UK, auditioned for 'Sell a Door Theatre Company' to perform a month’s run of 'The Railway Children' at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe festival with a professional cast. The cast are currently in rehearsals in Thurrock.
