A DAY of celebrations and thanksgiving was held at the London Cruise terminal in Tilbury today (22 June) to mark the 70th anniversary of the arrival of the SS Empire Windrush into the port on Tuesday 22 June 1948 with hundreds of people on board who travelled for 30 days from Jamaica to begin a new life in Great Britain.
