AFTER a forgettable 2010, many thought Thurrock Conservatives would have started the new year with added vigour and enthusiasm but at the first two meetings of the year, they appeared to have stayed away in droves.
Chief Inspector Paul Moor, the Thurrock district commander, said: “Prior to this event we had very close liaison with the organisers who agreed to increase their security and stewarding at the event following some minor scuffles at a previous match.
There is no real-time IT interface between the Council, Vertex and Morrison. The manual system in place has significant limitations. A new IT
system will be in place by February 2011 that will allow the Council and Morrison to have access to the same information and allow real time
management and monitoring. In the mean-time, there will be a lack of real-time performance data until the new system is implemented. Secondly there are a high proportion of repair requests being inaccurately logged as urgent. Morrison have located two technical staff in the Council’s Contact Centre to provide immediate technical support thereby ensuring requests are logged appropriately".

For Grays it was a day to forget. After all the good work against Wingate and Finchley, they never really got going. Or should we say that the front pair never looked like scoring in a month of sundays. Ishmael Welsh tore down the left wing, Dean Pennant was solid in the middle and the defence bar a very erratic Brad Thomas were rarely troubled early on but it was the barn door brothers up front who frustrated every Grays fan and especially Julian Dicks as time after time they fluffed their chances.
Two disastrous defeats in as many days must leave the Fleet management wondering were the “Happy” is in Happy New Year.
