THE ROCKS reinforced their play-off credentials with a competent 2-0 victory against Wingate and Finchley at Rokkery Hill. Thurrock dominated from the start. In the 5th minute, Sam Higgins had a gentle lob kicked off the line by Wingate defender, Daniel Braithwaite. However from the sideline, boss John Coventry was getting angry by the players sloppy mistakes. With just four games left, this could be the difference between premier and conference south.

ROCKS maintained their surge towards the play-offs with an emphatic victory against Hampton who, after the opening 15 minutes, were always second best to their energetic visitors reports The Thurrock Enquirer. The sides were well matched through the opening exchanges and Hampton came close when an attempted clearance by James Lawson sliced goalwards and he was grateful to see it bounce off defender Tom Stephen and away to safety.

A BRIGHT and lively start by Thurrock looking to add another three points to their tally and could have taken the lead in the third minute when Danny Green broke away on the left flank and his shot went just wide of the far post. Thurrock continued to pressurise the Bognor defence and broke the deadlock in the 18th minute when Darren Ebsworth fired over a cross from the left, Bognor defender Joshua Warren chested the ball down but running in was Ben Smith to fire home from close range.

A TIRED looking Tilbury lost out to 17th place Waltham Abbey in an uninspiring game. Due to injuries, Tilbury fielded four if their regular reserve players. The home side started strongly, with Joe Nightingill having his header cleared off the line after just 2 minutes. 2 minutes later Matthews headed over from a Bradley Webb. Tilbury were undone by a James Peagram strike on 11 to give the visitors the lead when he latched on to a through ball to hit past Marrable.

Football: CHAMPIONS! Grays Ath win the title!!

GRAYS ATHLETIC beat Maldon and Tiptree 2-0 at the Rush Green Stadium to win the Ryman Division One North. It was a tremendous performance by Grays Athletic that underlined every quality that the team have displayed this season and especially 2013.

A tense draw but it means the Rocks move up to seventh in the league, just three points off the play off places with a game in hand. Despite a great run recently, Thurrock are still only three points off the drop zone. Looks like everyone at the bottom is having a good run as well.

AN INJURY time winner has put Grays Athletic on the edge of promotion with a 2-1 win against Harlow Town at Barrows Farm.Harlow Town were a dangerous outfit, despite their lowly position. Shamir Mullings was giving them plenty to think about up front.
