Officials at the club have confirmed they have already sold five times more tickets than an ordinary match day with two days still to go until the turnstiles open. The Rocks kick off at 2pm at Rookery Hill against League Two Macclesfield Town on Saturday, 12 November.
There are many examples of late starting athletes who have made it to a good level. The Harriers are seeing more and more athletes in their 30s and 40s taking up this sport successfully. Many of them come through the club's beginners session held on Thursday nights at 6.45.
Goals from player manager Antony Lane and skiper Daniel Heed gave Athletic a 2-1 lead at half time. The scores were level shortly into the second half making the last half hour quite entertaining.

Rocks gradually improved and began to create chances, with Sam Collins hitting an upright and then screwing a shot just wide. The equaliser came five minutes before the break when a corner fell to Kris Newby who turned and forced the ball home from close range.
n a game that was keenly fought out between two teams trying to play football in a competitive manner somehow referee Mr David Rock a known autograph hunter managed to collect the names of seven players unbelievable, In the 90th and 94th minute Thurrock defence threw away a game that they deserved to win when goals from Tonbridge Scott Kinch and Michael Boatang.flew in from long range efforts.
East Thurrock win 4-2 away in the FA Trophy but Grays crash out in five goal thriller. Solid draw for Aveley in league but more last minute misery for Thurrock.
Grays had faster feet but Canvey looked strong and came back again in the 67th minute when keeper Andy Hall brought down the Canvey attacker. Having received a red card last week he was lucky to just get a yellow. Rob King stepped up and powered the penalty home.
The Rocks have the little matter of a televised FA Cup match next week but the players will be left under no illusion that this is the important match. Manager-less, the Millermen have been fairly successful on the road. There is speculation that Rod Stringer may return to Mill Field.
GRAYS ATHLETIC confirmed today that ex-captain Stuart Thurgood has left Grays Athletic. Stuart spoke with the club yesterday and advised them of his decision to leave and join Conference South side Thurrock FC.
The Millers, have won just twice so far this season, and are 18th in the table, just outside the relegation places. Former Leyton Orient and Shrewsbury player Griffiths, replaced Alan Kimble in the Aveley dug-out in November 2010.
THURROCK'S golden oldies were out in force in the 2nd round of the Essex Cross Country League. The tough course, over the Gloucester Park Hill, didn't deter them from putting in some great performances. Scott Rice finished 16th in the 180 strong field. He was the second 40+ runner being beaten by the reigning county veteran cross country champion Alan Smalls from Colchester.
Again the second half was devoid of much action, with confusion amongst the Millers defence almost giving Hastings the lead after 53 minutes when McCartney failed to gather, but Kenny Pogue’s ball back into the box was cleared.
