THURROCK Unsighted Peoples Society (T.U.P.S.) is changing its name. Ken Moore (Action on Hearing Loss) will be joining them to form Thurrock Blind and Deaf Group (B.A.D.) a sensory group for the sight and hearing impaired people of Thurrock.
They offer advice and help from the foyer of the Thameside Complex (Library) in Orsett Road Grays on the 1st Wednesday of every month from 12noon to 2pm.
A GRAYS man won a Vauxhall Corsa in the Thurrock Community Chest draw. The winning ticket was pulled out by the mayor of Thurrock, cllr Tony Fish.
The winner of the car, donated by Tony Levoi was Keith Spires,Russell Road, Grays.
Mr Spires said: "I am gobsmacked. I do not even remember buying a ticket!"
THURROCK PHOTOGRAPHER Rob Lay spent Friday travelling the borough chronicling Thurrock in the sun. Rob, in our humble opinion, is a gifted photographer, who has a particular interest in wildlife.
THE CHADWELL patchwork and quilting group raised over £200 for St Luke's Hospice. £220 was raised for the Basildon St Lukes Hospice, in memory of Lee Mitchelson, son of Pauline Mitchelson, a good friend of the Chadwell Quilting group.

The party was organised by Jodie Gray, 25 from Romford Road in Aveley, and took place on Saturday 6th July. Around 130 guests arrived at Moor Hall in Aveley to enjoy delicious homemade cream teas and scones in glorious sunshine and beautiful surroundings. The guests also took part in a charity raffle with prizes including: a meal at the King William restaurant in Chigwell, gift vouchers, beauty treatments and lots of lovely homemade cakes.

A TEAM from Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) the world’s leading maritime services provider based in Chafford Hundred, has raised £3,642 for the Sailors’ Society in a special dragon boat race at Olympic rowing venue, Dorney Lake, near Windsor. Supported by colleagues and family, the ten-strong team, entered the Sailors’ Society Dragon Boat Challenge to raise funds to support the vital work carried out by the charity.
