Knifepoint fag robbery in Grays

DETECTIVES are appealing for information following a burglary in Grays. FOUR masked men walked through an unlocked door of a house on Elm Road shortly before 9:30pm on Thursday, April 24 and threatened the female homeowner with a knife, forcing her to hand over a quantity of cigarettes. They then left via a back door.

Man robbed in Daiglen Drive in South Ockendon

FOLLOWING a night out, the 27-year-old man was dropped off by a taxi in Danbury Cresent, South Ockendon and saw a man and woman in this street. The man asked the victim, who was intoxicated, if he was ok as he was unsteady on his feet. As he walked along Daiglen Drive he was assaulted from behind, causing him to fall to the ground. His wallet, containing cash and cards was then stolen. A passing female motorist stopped and called an ambulance for the victim, who suffered numerous cuts and swelling to his face and a fractured eye socket.

Man cautioned over theft by finding in Aveley

A 42-year-old man has been cautioned for the theft of a wallet left by a passenger on a bus in Aveley. The man, from Aveley, attended Grays police station on Friday, April 11, after police released a CCTV image. He was cautioned after admitting the theft which happened at around 5pm on March 29, on the No. 22 bus.

Violent robbery in First Avenue, Grays

DETECTIVES in Grays are appealing for information following a robbery in First Avenue. A man in his 40s from Grays was approached by two black men as he walked to his car parked at the junction of First Avenue and London Road, at 8.50pm on Friday, April 11.

Fobbing crash probed after driver bailed on drink driving

POLICE investigating an rtc in Fobbing have a man on police bail while enquiries continue. A silver Ford Fiesta was believed to be involved in a single vehicle collision between High Road, Fobbing and Festival Leisure Park, Basildon, sometime between 2am and 5.30am on March 29.

10% rise in food shoplifting in Thurrock

THE number of cases of food shoplifting in Thurrock rose by about 10% last year. Figures from Essex Police show there were 2,752 thefts in 2013, compared to 2,290 in 2012.

New dispersal order put in place for Lakeside Cruisers

A NEW dispersal order in West Thurrock is designed to reduce street racing and clamp down on other anti-social behaviour. The dispersal zone, which comes through powers under the Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003, will come in force on Tuesday, April 1 for a period of six months. The order gives police the power to give street racers the direction to leave.

Men wanted after theft of metal from Stanford-le-Hope

Copper piping was taken overnight on March 10 when thieves entered a garden of a private property. Whilst the CCTV is not of excellent quality, it does show one of the men with a bushy moustache and police hope that someone can name him. Teen hospitalised and mass arrests after gang fight.

A TEENAGE boy is in hospital and nine people have been arrested following a large fight in Pitsea. Police were called to a fight shortly after 6pm on Wednesday, 26 March in an underpass near Station Road.

Police roll out on-line safety roadshow in Thurrock

THOUSANDS of children across Thurrock learned about internet safety at a roadshow last week and hundreds more have already visited this week. The Walk On Line roadshow aims to educate children, aged from eight to 11, how to be safe online and how to avoid giving away personal information.

Man sought after theft from Waterstones in Lakeside

A man walked into Waterstones inside the West Thurrock shopping centre at 4pm on Sunday, March 2 and placed approximately 40 packs of the cards in his bag before leaving the shop. The man pictured in the CCTV image is described as white, aged in his late 20s and is gaunt-looking.

Tears as town says goodbye to teenager stabbed to death in Grays

THE FUNERAL has taken place of the teenage boy who was stabbed to death in Grays. Over 600 mourners paid their respects to 14-year-old Breck Bednar as the funeral made its way through Caterham.

Grays man sought following series of frauds across country

KEITH Hymas entered the NatWest branch in Ilminster in November 2013 and tried to cash a fraudulent cheque using fake ID. The bank seized both items and contacted police. The 49-year-old man was born in Grays and was last known to be living in the town’s Hogarth Road. He is also wanted on recall to prison for breaching his licence.

Women sought after heartless thieves steal buggy at Lakeside

POLICE are keen to hear from anyone who recognises two women who were caught on CCTV at the time that a pushchair was stolen from the Lakeside Shopping Centre. Two suspects had entered into the Santa’s Grotto area at the shopping centre shortly before 7pm on Tuesday December 10, 2013 and removed a Silver Cross push chair chassis and a Maxi Cosi car seat that was attached to it.
