Suspected loan shark set to appear in court

A SUSPECTED loan shark from Thurrock is due to appear at Basildon Crown Court this Friday (27th July) for a plea and case management hearing in relation to illegal money lending, money laundering and four charges in relation to the handling of stolen goods (namely vehicle parts.)

Man in serious condition after incident in Aveley High Street

Police were called at just after 10.20pm on Wednesday (July 25th) after reports of two men lying injured in the street. One man received treatment for a minor injury. Another man was taken to Queens hospital in Romford where his injuries were described as "serious but not life threatening."

Arrests and seizure as police clampdown continues

Two men and a boy were arrested after a vehicle failed to stop at a police check site at Corringham. They were arrested on suspicion of failing to stop for police and on suspicion of three burglaries at Corringham. A 22-year-old man from Grays and a boy aged 15 also from Grays were later bailed until August 31 pending further enquiries. A 21-year-old man from Grays was later released without charge.
