The Multicultural Week- 25th- 29th June, will celebrate the cultural diversity of the school. They’ll showcase and explore art, artifacts, food, music and traditions from the school community.
Speaking at the event, Acting Principal and Chief Executive, John Hayles said: “This is a real celebration of the diversity of courses, programmes and, indeed people at South Essex College. Our learners come from all walks of life; include young people from 14 upwards and adults of all ages, and a huge variety of personal circumstances.
A group of Year 10 students at Hassenbrook Academy raised £253.05 for the Karis May Darling Foundation recently following a bumper cake sale. The students baked an amazing array of cakes, with help and guidance from Mrs Le-Strange, to sell to fellow students and staff which proved an outstanding success.
YT met Adam Essa whilst he was taking part in Thurrock's Next Top Boss. He won an award then. Adam's name has cropped up as he has competed for Thurrock Harriers. His name has been mentioned in dispatches as he has been trained at the award winning The Bell Inn at Horndon-on-the-Hill.
Even at reception stage, the students are understanding the difference between different types of creature. They watch the crabs and understand how they scuttle and behavioural differences between males and females.
Ormiston Park Academy in Aveley, Essex wanted all their students to experience ‘Olympic fever’ and to be one of the schools experiencing full involvement of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Sports and PE were already strengths of the school, as was enterprise, therefore preparing their BTEC Dance group to incorporate Olympic fever was a doddle.

A CHILDRENS CENTRE that has been open for less than eighteen months has been slammed as 'Inadequate" by government watchdog Ofsted. Stifford Children’s Centre in Parker Road, Grays was opened in September 2010.
LAST WEEK, year 9 students at Gable Hall toured primary schools in the east of the borough with a series of short plays, very much in the fashion of the "public information films."
Since then, they have started an e-petition So far, they have gained over 300 signatures. The parents will be at the community day at the Beacon church in Drake Road, Chafford Hundred on June 16th where you can sign their petition.
The new school will stand on the current site, facing the community and will not only be spacious, light and have an amphitheatre, along with terrace classrooms, it will also have a new sports unit, cafes, a winter garden and an e- library.
