More than 15 business owners from all over Thurrock attended the event, which was created to give business owners an opportunity to work alongside each other, where they can share best practice, bounce around ideas, and generally partake in social net-working.
A SURVEY undertaken by Essex FSB (Federation of Small Businesses) shows that nearly nine out of 10 local businesses reject Government plans to increase the tolls at the Dartford River Crossing half of users being delayed for more than 10 minutes when using the crossing. Essex FSB Chairman, Iain Wicks, said: “The Dartford River Crossing has a major impact on the economy of Essex as it is the main route for businesses travelling south.
Chairman Philip Harris said: “In the year to April 30, 2011, we continued to experience challenging market conditions with fragile consumer confidence producing a weak floor coverings market,” Harris said today in a regulatory statement. “The Group remained profitable and generated cash, although profits for the year reduced substantially.”

Official rail industry figures just released confirm that 97.1% of c2c’s trains ran to time in August placing c2c at the top of the national punctuality table, with another four-week period of rail industry-leading performance. TILBURY-BASED BIBBY Distribution has strengthened its foot-hold in the paper and packaging logistics sector by securing a deal worth over £40m.
The contract is with manufacturer and supplier of packaging solutions, SAICA, and follows a fiercely competitive six-month tender process. This included Bibby Distribution’s bid team attending working sessions at the company’s headquarters in Zaragoza, Spain.

Essex FSB Chairman, Iain Wicks, said: “The Department for Transport is currently running a consultation on the future management of the Dartford Crossing including proposing higher charges, a possible new crossing between Essex and Kent and using number plate recognition toll collection systems.“Essex FSB will be responding to that consultation but before we do so we are gathering data from local businesses so that we have up to date facts to include in our response.
