Funky SX through to regional finals of ITV’s “The People’s Millions”

FUNKY.SX are pleased to announce that they have made it through to the regional final of ITV's 'The People's Millions'. A spokesperson said: "We would appreciate all the support you can give us on Wednesday the 27th November to help us win the public 'phone in vote' and to help us launch our 'Funky Academy' DJ Classes across Essex including Thurrock and build a broadcast studio for our online radio station, broadcast training and future RSL/community radio broadcasts.

Fireworks – help us to help you stay safe

In the weeks leading up to Bonfire Night on 5th November, the team focus their attention on the sale and safe storage of fireworks and they would like the help of residents to identify local traders who may be selling fireworks to those under the age of 18 or who may be selling fireworks illegally. If you suspect a trader may be selling fireworks to under 18s, or if you see someone selling fireworks from a market stall or van, please report your concerns to trading standards immediately. Intu Lakeside appoints new manager

Prior to joining intu Lakeside, Kate gained a wealth of retail experience at Selfridges in London. Having spent 16 years with the world famous department store, Kate most recently held the position of Central Operations Manager, overseeing large scale back-of-house and refurbishment projects, planning and managing peak and key trading periods (such as sale and Christmas) and supporting the launch of Selfridge’s transactional website.

Rush hour chaos as Ship Lane closed

Appeal after Chafford teens threatened with “gun” and robbed on train

“DURING the journey, two men, who also boarded at Romford, approached the victims and demanded them to hand over their belongings, including phones, wallets and keys. “The men threatened them, claiming they had a gun – although no gun was seen - before grabbing one of the boys round the neck. Fearing for their safety, the two victims handed over their mobile phones, a passport and headphones.

Man arrested after assault in Grays

A MAN has been arrested following an assault in Grays which left the victim with a cut to his eyebrow area. The 24-year-old man from Grays has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting a 31-year-old local man in Orsett Road at about 4.30am on Sunday, October 6.

THURROCK Council’s trading standards team is warning people not to fall prey to rogue traders looking to take advantage of Monday’s (28 October) storm force winds across the borough. The council itself has been working to clear roads and paths and legitimate traders will also be carrying out work, but trading standards officers are concerned rogue traders will be trying to take advantage of the situation.

Day of woe continues as M25 shuts after crash

THE DAY from hell continues in Thurrock as the M25 is shut at Junction 31 after two lorries collide. M25 Essex - Severe delays and the main road is closed, with traffic being routed around the junction and back on again, on M25 anticlockwise at J31 A1306 Arterial Road West Thurrock, because of a serious accident involving two lorries and recovery work. Travel time is around 70 minutes. Congestion to J4, A21 (Orpington).

Storm St Jude: Latest updates

CAUTION is being urged to travellers on the roads and railways ahead of severe weather expected on Monday October 27). Winds of more than 70mph are expected to batter the region from Sunday night into Monday morning. The Highways Agency is advising road users to check the weather forecast and road conditions before they travel.
