A MAN HAS been airlifted to hospital after enduring over six hours trapped over thirty metres above the ground in a crane at the port of Tilbury. Crews had been called to the port of Tilbury to assist in the rescue of a worker with his leg trapped in the winding gear of a container crane, 20 metres above the ground. The fire service log gave a regular update on events.

POLICE are appealing for help in tracing a man they want to speak to in connection with the theft of a mountain bike in Chadwell St Mary.A red mountain bike was stolen from outside shops in Defoe Parade just after 6.30am on September 1. The bike was left insecure.

POLICE are investigating a road traffic collision between a car and a mobility scooter that left an elderly lady requiring hospital treatment. The collision occurred at near to 11am on Tuesday October 8th at the pedestrian crossing close to Hassengate Medical Centre on Southend Road, Stanford-le-Hope.

A MAN has been arrested by officers from the National Crime Agency as part of an investigation into the alleged smuggling of endangered birds of prey. The 49-year-old was questioned following the search of a property in Stanford-le-Hope, Essex on Tuesday 8 October.

AN inquest into the death of a crane worker at Tilbury Docks in Essex has heard faulty machines were reported to bosses but not dealt with immediately. Ian Campbell died in 2011 after his straddle carrier crane toppled onto its side, throwing him from the glass cab.
