Local election nominations open on Monday

Nominations for the local elections open on Monday. Sixteen seats will be contested on Thursday May 5th. There will also be a national referendum on whether a system of proportional representation should be adopted.

Heartless thieves steal wedding dress in Corringham

Dc Dean Batson said: "Someone may have heard glass being broken and seen someone acting suspiciously around the area and I would appeal for anyone with information to contact me. In the first incident the house owner lost a wedding dress which would have great sentimenal value, so anyone who is offered a dress in unusual circumstances is asked to contact me at Grays Police station on 0300 333 4444 or Crimestoppers on the usual number.

Grays Ath 2 v 1 Wingate and Finchley

From the start both teams looked up for a game as the ball moved easily from end to end. Athletic set up the first attack when Tom Harvey released debutant Danny Hearty for his shot to go just wide of the goal. Wingate came straight back when Murat Karagul put a pass through to Gary Burrell for the shot to go wide. The Blues set about putting the away defence to task with a period of sustained pressure where the Wingate forwards looked surplus to requirements.

Thurrock picked up three vital points with second half goals from Jamie Richards and Jake Lee, with St Albans regaining their ten point deduction for breach of rules, perhaps only temporarily, but the effect was to take them above Thurrock and drop the fleet into the relegation zone.

Details of secret council meeting over lorry park revealed

Following the planning committee meeting of Thursday (24 March) where the Enforcement Report over the unauthorised lorry park at the West Thurrock Power Station site in Oliver Road was discussed, members agreed to release a "statement of facts" on an investigation into issues surrounding the West Thurrock Power Station site.

Ormiston impress at Interview Day

Forty pupils from Ormiston Park Academy took part in a ‘mock’ interview event this week and met representatives from local businesses and national organisations. As part of the programme, a number of local businesses volunteered to challenge the students with some mock interviews, as if they were applying for a full-time job. 
It gave around 40 year 11 pupils’ opportunities to hone their interview skills and find out more about careers across a wide range of sectors.

Tory Cllr Barry Johnson said: "Before these plans/proposals were put forward we met with the Chief Executive Graham Farrant and Director of Finance Martin Hone who, both agreed that the proposals were viable.

THURROCK MP Jackie Doyle-Price will be holding an advice surgery for local residents on Saturday 26 March at Morrison’s Supermarket in Grays, between the hours of 10:00 and 12:00.
