A spokesperson for ngage said “The completion events we held were great and many residents have valued the one to one support, even if it has just been to find out more about the census and ask questions.”

Council delight at extra-care housing in Thurrock

Cllr Tony Fish, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, said: “I’m delighted that we are opening this new Extra Care housing facility, the first of its kind in Thurrock. With 65 new units of Extra Care housing, this accommodation will help keep people out of residential and nursing home care and enable them to stay in their own home, but with the support necessary to maintain their independence and quality of life.”

The political climate in 2007 was somewhat different. The Tories were three years into their rule. They ambled through the campaign, picking up seats through the political nouse of Orsett councillor Mike Revell who ensured they took Homesteads and ran Labour close in other wards in the west. Labour also sleptwalked through the campaign and this was to lay the roots to them losing Homesteads in 2007 and also failing to take Ockendon, just about hanging onto Belhus. They would also see a series of seats being lost in the west over the next few years.

Seven to go as Rocks march on

Having said that, no-one could realistically argue that East Thurrock didn’t deserve the points. They were the dominant side all afternoon and even though their second goal owed much to a poor decision by ref Adrian Oldershaw, they always appeared to be in control of their destiny.
