Thameside Junior School’s pupils and parents celebrate new library

To celebrate this fantastic new facility, creative practitioners, performer Beverley Beer and poets, Justin Coe and Vicky Wilson visited the school to help launch the library and encourage a love of reading and books in both children and parents alike. Justin began the day’s activities with a poetry-themed assembly for the whole school and then ran poetry workshops with Year 6 pupils. After school, Vicky ran workshops for parents and their children exploring creating animal character poems and Beverly performed a selection of poems.

David Haye gives cash boost to Chadwell Boxing Club

Chadwell St Mary Amateur Boxing Club are over-joyed after receiving a very generous donation from the World Boxing champion David Haye's company Haymaker promotions. After attending Chadwell A.B.C's last show held at the Gateway School in Tilbury, David Hayes Manager/Coach Adam Booth presented head Coach Chris Okoh with a cheque as he was so impressed with the quality of boxing from the local boys and girls!!

YourThurrock was celebrating last night as the number of total views on their youtube channel broke through the one million mark. Since launching on September 1st 2008, YT has made over 3,000 filmed items covering all aspects of life in the borough.

UPS set to open Olympic facility in Tilbury

UPS yesterday opened a 331,000-square-foot warehouse and distribution facility located 33 miles (54 kilometers) in Stevenage, the first of its kind in the U.K. A second warehouse will open in Tilbury in the next few months.

Woman robbed at Daneholes roundabout

Investigating officer, Dc Dean Batson, said: “The woman was thankfully uninjured during this ordeal, but it would have been incredibly frightening for her. We want to speak to anyone that was in the area at the time that may have seen this suspect loitering around.”
