Pub Watch launched in Thurrock

Pub Watch also offers licensed premises in the town the opportunity to share best practice across the industry and provides a forum for Thurrock Council and Essex Police to understand issues and discuss problems with a group. B.O.B.B. is a scheme which runs alongside Pub Watch specifically targeting troublemakers. It excludes people from all premises in the scheme and posters and logos give a strong visual reminder that troublemakers will be banned.

MP puts Brighthouse under the spotlight

Brighthouse...is advertising a nice, attractive 46-inch LED television that currently retails at £849 in Currys. BrightHouse is retailing it at £1,478.11, but it quotes a weekly payment of £13.64. On the face of it that sounds affordable, but ultimately the customer will pay a total of £2,127.84 for the product, two and a half times the price that they would pay in a normal high street store. That is why we need to consider extending affordable credit provisions more widely, so that consumers are not ripped off by such companies.

Save our Library Day: Glynis retires

THERE is a lot going on at Grays library today. The fact that it is national "Save Our Library Day" is, we are firmly told, a complete co-incidence. But it is good to see national figures from Thurrrock such as Scoobius Pip, supporting the cause. (Very subtle-Ed).

Peter’s Blog: A word in your ear……..

As for Cllr Hale’s hysterical comment “I think you [the Tories] run the risk of damning this hospital and we will be in danger of losing it. I just worry that you are not even listening, you are so sure at each of the meetings you go to that they [the hospital] are lying you don’t have a balanced view.” Is she seriously saying it is better to have a hospital that is a threat to the health and safety of its patients, fails to meet the standards of hygiene and care required of it than to have no hospital at all?
