Between approximately 3.20pm and 3.45pm on Thursday, January 20, the victim was travelling on the number 73 bus in Palmers Avenue, Grays, when a suspect made racist comments at the victim. The suspect is described as a white man, in his late 20's to early 30's, brown short hair and of a muscular build.
Students and staff at Hassenbrook School in Stanford-le-Hope will be supporting Mr Anthony Hattam, Leader of Learning in Humanities at the school, raise funds for the ‘Phab kids’ charity. Mr Hattam has signed up for the Virgin London Marathon in a bid to raise a figure of at least £1500.

CAMPION student Joshua Taylor has been impressing all and sundry at Orsett Hall over the last few weeks. He is spending his time on work experience at the prestigious hotel and that means learning everything. Serving, answering phones, more serving, cleaning and making sure he is learning all the time. It isn't easy but Josh seems to be enjoying it and he is greatly helped under care of Nicola Haynes.

A FIREFIGHTER has been reinstated on appeal after evidence came to light that his trade union had provided him with bad advice which had a material impact on the decision to dismiss him.

FIREFIGHTERS were called to tackle a fire in a yard at Readmans industrial estate, Station Road, East Tilbury on Sunday morning. Initially one appliance was sent to the scene, but on arrival, the officer in charge requested the attendance of an additional appliance to bring extra water to the scene.

Edward Barnes, a 37-year-old man from Charles Street, Grays will appear at Basildon Magistrates Court this morning, charged with two counts of burglary dwelling and one count of possession of cocaine.

A PACKED house at Gateway Academy came together to celebrate the achievements of last years students as well as many other students still at the school. Headteacher Kevin Sadler paid tribute to the students for their achievements both academic and in extra-curricular form as the school forges ahead.
