It would have been easy for Ruben Carril to "turn his face to the wall" when he lost his leg in a motorcycle accident five years ago. For Ruben though it was the age old adage of "get busy living or get busy dying".
They are coming up to their twentieth year and yet the pace of fundraising continues to gather apace. It is a credit to the team led by Marilyn D'Battista that in these difficult times, they have been able to raise their game while other organisations have struggled to keep pace with the demands.
The Fund Raising Evening is taking place on Tuesday 1 June 2010 between 7.00pm and 11.00pm at Partyman World of Play, Repton Close, Burnt Mills, Basildon. There will be a live band, dancers, face painting, craft for children, fun photo shoots, games, cakes to buy, a prize raffle and much, much more. Tickets are £5.00 each for adults and children under 16 years go free! Please come along and support this worthwhile cause.
The teams will be taking the Vitality Mobile Unit into Grays this Thursday (27 May), outside Morrisons supermarket, between 10am and 4pm. The aim of the event will be to highlight the effects of smoking, particularly on women.
