Top comedians coming to Civic Hall

Having made dynamic appearances on the Michael McIntyre ‘Comedy Roadshow’ and soon to appear on the new ITV prime time show ‘Comedy Rocks’ with Jason Manford, Sean Collins and Mike Gunn have teamed up to present this unique double bill show. It gives you the opportunity to witness two of the finest stand-up comedians performing in the UK today in one show.

Ol’ Blues Eyes tribute

On Wednesday, 27 April, at 2pm the honey tones of Mr Paul Wood will recount all the great songs of Ol’ Blues Eyes himself. The Len Phillips Orchestra is well known in the borough as a dance band and Len has selected his top musicians to form a great jazz seven piece.

July sees launch of International Celebration of Culture

The Celebrations will start in earnest on Saturday 9 July with an afternoon show and art display at the South Essex College’s Thurrock Campus in Woodview. The opening event will be the culmination of a series of talent sessions hosted in all the local secondary schools, with the afternoon including art work and performances from professional artists and local high quality acts.

Lakeside fashion show makes a splash

Lakeside’s fashion shows made a splash when they returned this weekend as part of the shopping centre’s 21st birthday celebrations, with celebrity appearances, a stunning new pink-edged catwalk and shows featuring over 8,600 items from around the centre.

Towers set to illuminate Coalhouse Fort

THE TOWERS of Ilium is a fascinating art event set to take place at the Coalhouse Fort in September this year. The project will be a video/art installation by renowned artist, Lynn Macritchie.

A Taste For Song

Royal Opera House Education in Thurrock is offering local residents a special taster session for the new Thurrock Community Chorus to see if singing might be for them. Led by the newly appointed Chorus Director, Jeremy Haneman, you will also have the opportunity to meet the rest of the team. The taster evening will take place at Chafford Hundred Campus, Mayflower Road, Chafford Hundred on Monday 9 May from 7.15pm.

Easter Fun at the Thameside

On Thursday 21st April CBeebies Presenter Andy Day brings his much loved humour to this high energy, fast-paced children’s comedy :- Andy & Mike’s… Big Box of Bananas! In a production aimed at 3-11 year olds (and their entire families!!), Andy and long-term comedy partner Mike James create the hilarious, slap-stick and chaotic .

Gang Show gets them rolling in the aisles

With a larger cast than recent years it was great to see the energy and eagerness all the newcomers brought to the performance. As always, the show boasted a mix of comedy and well known tunes to keep the audience entertained. From the amusing ‘American Names’ where the youngsters were Bob-ing and Neil-ing to avoid a biff from Biff, to songs from Bugsy Malone and Queen, the whole performance ran without a hitch.

Feel the Music: Gateways Got Talent: Part One

WE HAVE already shown the winner of the show but we can assure you that there were many other great acts on show. Here we see: Tony Collins, Vanessa Ohenlen, JBK, Hannah Youd and Vicky Lightowler.

Talon at the Thameside: Review

Each member of Talon brings to the group a feature that works well in the Eagles tracks. Chris Lloyd recreates Don Henley's higher vocal range making it his own each time; Peter Anderson brings the bass baritones to each song which fits perfectly in those Glenn Frey country tracks; Jonny Miller has an amazing voice and his lead vocals on I Can’t Tell You Why leave you speechless at the end of the song; Finally, Tony Vegas, who can play a mean guitar riff, puts so much enthusiasm into his performance that it’s hard not to stare at him.

David Van Day stars in charity concert that raises thousands for Little Havens

THE NOW AND THEN concert at the Thameside last week raised £1726 for Little Havens childrens hospice. A variety of acts with star David Van Day topping the bill out on a great night in front of a sell-out crowd.
