Football: Rocks produce best performance of the season

EAST Thurrock turned in one of their best performances of the season and emerged deserving winners from Saturday’s Ryman Premier clash at Ram Meadow. The opening exchanges were dominated by Bury, who pushed Rocks back and John Sands was denied only by a fine save from Elliot Justham who dived to push the striker’s low drive past the upright.

Football: Four out of four for the Dockers

TILBURY continued there good form to make it four wins in four with a win over over a resilient Wroxham side. Tilbury made two changes from the previous week with Rob Gillman in for his debut and Danny Francis returning to the side in place of injured Tom Wraight and Ben Crooks.

Football: Gulls too strong as they sink the Fleet

THURROCK always knew that this would be a tough call and they were right as they were beaten 2-0 by Canvey Island. Two goals by Bradley Woods-Garness was the difference between the two teams, which saw the Gulls move into fourth in the league.

Football: Aveley back on the goal-fest trail

IT was double trouble for Chatham Town as the Millers scored a resounding 5-1 win thanks to a double from Junior Dadson and a double from Jordan Cox. A brace a piece from Dadson and Cox ensured a league double over The Chats at Mill Field but the score-line was somewhat harsh on the visitors who found themselves two goals down early on.

Saturday Football Results

Great away win for the Rocks that pushes them up to eleventh. Who knows what a good run will bring? Always going to be a tough challenge for Stimmo's men. One to put down to experience. Grays get back to winning ways with a workmanlike but controlled three points in Suffolk

Football: Grays Ath dig deep to take three vital points

GRAYS Ath bounced back from last week to take three vital points winning 1-0 at Needham Market. Grays had made a number of changes on the back of the Cheshunt defeat with Jack West starting, hoping to forge a partnership, with the so far underwhelming Jeff Hammond.

Football: Bunce brace puts Grays in semi-finals of Essex cup

GRAYS bounced back from their weekend disappointment against Cheshunt to win through to the semi-final of the Essex Senior Cup, which they last reached in 2007. However, it wasn’t a particularly impressive performance by the Ryman One North high-fliers against their Essex Senior league hosts and they owed victory to substitute Danny Bunce who came off the bench to equalise and then grab the winner two minutes later.

Football: Stimmo delighted as Thurrock strike five

THURROCK jumped three places up the Ryman Premier table after Tuesday’s emphatic victory against Cray, who appear to be in freefall and certainly had no luck at Ship Lane. The visitors were forced into a substitution inside the first minute and then conceded a penalty when Charlie Stimson was fouled and Stuart Thurgood slammed home the spot kick for a third minute lead. The second came from a speculative effort from Luke Wanadio on 21 minutes, though it owed much to an uneven bounce that deceived keeper

Rugby: New year, same struggles for Thurrock

THURROCK made the trip to Cow Lane and despite the recent wet weather the pitch was in remarkably good condition, and set fair for an important game of rugby. It was hardly the result that was expected with Tring completely reversing their fortunes from earlier in the season when losing by 38-10.

Football: Millers back on track with stunning away win

A JORDAN Cox double helped Aveley return to winning ways with a 3-2 win away to in-form AFC Sudbury at the MEL Group Stadium. A brace from Jordan Cox followed by a winner from close range from Junior Dadson was enough for the Millers to complete the league double over their Suffolk opponents, as well as stem the tide of three straight league defeats.

Football: Rocks back on track with impressive home win

EAST Thurrock claimed their second home league win of the season and probably ought to have won by a bigger margin, dominating the game, if not quite from the start to finish. Indeed there was a lucky escape for East Thurrock in the sixth minute when a foul was awarded against L’Hereaux Menga and Enfield’s Jordan Lee quickly played the ball forward to Scott McGleish. He looked to be offside but with the home defence in disarray he looped a header over keeper Elliot Justham, who was grateful to see it come down off the underside of the crossbar and he grabbed it.

Football: Third win on the bounce for the Dockers

TILBURY earned there third consecutive win, over a hard-working Redbridge side. With Redbridge suffering some heavy defeats of late, the home side started well looking to bounce back. James Marrable and Jack Carlile returned in place of Paul King and Ryan Auger. After five minutes Emiel Aiken went close when he miss hit a shot in front of goal from a Sam Cutler cross. Redbridge took a surprise lead in the eleventh minute when a ball was played in between the Tilbury defence and Jacob Cleaver fired low into the net.

Football: Bad day at the office as Grays Ath concede four at home.

A DEMORALISED and strangely flat Grays Athletic had a very bad at Rush Green after left losing 4-1 at home to Cheshunt. Grays Ath got off to a disastrous start. In the 3rd minute, Courtney White shot from twenty yards out but the erratic keeper George Kamarasi let the ball slip right out of his hands and into the net.

Football: Baker saves the day as injury time winner seals victory for Grays

JUNIOR BAKER'S injury time winner secured all three points for the Blues in a thrilling victory at Rush Green Stadium. The first chance came in the first minute for Romford. Ben Jones found himself in space thirty yards from goal but his attempted lob went over the bar.

Football: Rocks lose their way in Canvey

THIS was a disjointed start to the new year for both sides, but Canvey came away the happier with a Ryman Premier win their second half dominance deserved but both sides will need to improve if the rest of the season isn’t to be a disappointment reports the Thurrock Enquirer.
