THURROCK'S up and coming bosses were showing off their skills at the Park Inn in North Stifford on Thursday (27 March) evening. They had all taken part in the fifth annual Thurrock Next Top Boss programme and were there for a networking and awards event.

DUE to popular demand, world-renowned comedian Jimmy Carr has added a new date to the Civic Hall in Grays with Work in Progress, the preview show for his next tour. Carr, whose stand-up shows have been seen by more than 1.5 million people, has performed preview shows at the Civic Hall before and is keen to road test his new show in front of a Grays audience.
THOUSANDS of children across Thurrock learned about internet safety at a roadshow last week and hundreds more have already visited this week. The Walk On Line roadshow aims to educate children, aged from eight to 11, how to be safe online and how to avoid giving away personal information.

EASTER holiday waste and recycling collection dates have been announced by Thurrock Council. In order to minimise disruption to the majority of people, those who are due to have collections on Good Friday – 18 April – will have their bins collected on Saturday, 26 April 2014.
ARTHUR BUGLER Junior School were in celebratory mood after receiving a "Good" grading from government watchdog, Ofsted. Their last inspection told them that they "Required Improvement" and that is exactly what they did!
DURING the visit, Wates’ Resident Liaison Officer, Doina Caniparu, and Trainee Quantity Surveyor, John Ajidahun, told pupils how everyone on the building site uses maths, including engineers, architects, quantity surveyors, site and project managers, carpenters, electricians, plumbers and bricklayers.
THE new strategy will build on the principles contained in the existing end of life strategy which defines the services that local people and their families should expect to receive, such as a care package designed around the individual and delivered at the patient’s preferred place of care, support for carers and the provision of bereavement services. The new strategy will seek to standardise end-of-life care and iron out any differences in service provision between different care providers.
THE GATEWAY ACADEMY Free School in Tilbury has received a "Good" grade in its first ever Ofsted inspection. The school opened in September 2013 and is part of the Gateway Learning Community (GLC). The report, bucks a trend, which has seen (since May 2013) nine Thurrock primary schools receive a "Requires Improvement" grade, one placed in special measures and just one other (Arthur Bugler Junior) receive a "Good" grade.
