THURROCK Council's cabinet has agreed that action needs to be taken to stop business- and trades-people illegally using the civic amenity site at Linford. Cabinet members were told on Wednesday (19 March), “it has been noted that during the past year there has been a significant change in the patterns and volumes of waste being delivered to the site”.

“Simply the Breast” raises over a thousand at Burlesque night

THE funds raised at the event will help to fund life-saving research into breast cancer. They passionately believe we owe it to every woman affected by breast cancer to explore every avenue to overcome and outlive this disease – in our lifetime.

Successful second season for Lightship Cafe

The Lightship Cafe provided a waiter service for the community and a different menu from normal. Parties booked in for Men’s breakfasts and Ladies cream teas. In addition Lightship cafe also sold council stock, raising just short of £700 for the council, which included over 30 bucket and spades, over 230 ice creams plus soft drinks and sweets.

A THURROCK young persons drama group have scooped a prestigious drama award at a festival. TEENACTORS won their award at the Waltham Forest Drama Festival youth section with their performance of David Foxton's "A Memory of Lizzie' which depicts the life of Lizzie Borden who at the age of 12 was accused of murdering her parents with an axe.

TV’s Art Attack star visits the PRU

THE presenter of Children’s TV Art Attack Lloyd Warbey was at South Ockendon’s Phoenix Centre on Friday (14 March). He spent the day with the pupils creating a Big Art Project based on the pupils’ current learning topic of the Ancient Egyptians. Each pupil was involved in the entire process – from the design, creation and sculpting of the final piece.
