As one Bulphan resident told YT at the weekend. "We used to see a council refuse van, clean one street and then say they would be back two days later to clean the other side. This new system seems to make much more sense." However, Thurrock Council have told YT that it may take a few weeks for the system to "bed in". In the meantime, the council will publish, each day,a list of the streets that did not have their waste uplifted.
FROM Monday (17 June) to 21 June there will be free Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) recycling collections across the borough.
For the first time Thurrock will be sending out a caged vehicle to various sites to collect unwanted small electrical items, and people are being asked to bring old hairdryers, kettles, electric blankets, fans or small items along to be disposed of properly.
AN exciting new book which celebrates Thurrock Food will go on sale at a public launch at the Thameside Theatre, Orsett Rd, Grays on Saturday 15th June, 2-4 pm. Thurrock Food Now And Then combines local food history with local mouth-watering recipes. The book, written by Ann Hart Billingham and Jonathan Catton has been produced in support of Thurrock foodbank and all proceeds from book sales will go towards supporting this invaluable local charity.
THURROCK Council’s Leader has congratulated senior officers and post office officials for finding a temporary solution keeping the service in Grays. Cllr John Kent said: “The council and the Post Office have been working closely together to try and secure its long-term future in Grays.
THURROCK Council is funding a new organisation in an effort to expand the services it provides for carers across the borough. CARIADS (Carers Information and Advice Service) was launched at the Beehive, Grays, on Tuesday (11 June) by Mayor of Thurrock, Cllr Tony Fish.
The Purfleet Marshes site had been a victim of graffiti tagging and as one of the borough’s most visited areas the council assisted the clear-up, without charge. Terry Robinson, the RSPB’s office manager said: “It’s rare we get graffiti here and we are really grateful that the council were able to help us out on this occasion.
AS the A13 roadworks at Stanford-le-Hope continue on schedule, J. Murphy & Sons Limited is today advising the public of the following weekend diversion which may affect road users. A short section of the A13 will be diverted in both directions between Saturday 15th June and Monday 17th June 2013.

THURROCK Marching Brass attended their very first parade contest today which saw them march through a very busy and appreciative high street in Tonbridge, Kent. Competing Against SIX other parade bands, they were awarded a bronze trophy which is also their first trophy achievement for 2013.
THERE WAS a host of awards given out at the Thurrock Drama Festival at the Thameside Theatre on Saturday night. The festival ran over eight nights and illustrated the depth of acting talent across the region.
