THIS year a series of events are being planned to mark the 65th anniversary of the ship carrying 492 West Indians, the first wave of Caribbean migrants to work in Great Britain – starting this nation’s multi-cultural society.
Saturday, 22 June marks the anniversary of this iconic voyage and a celebration is planned which will involve a number of national partners culminating that weekend.
A-LEVEL student Ashleigh was diagnosed with a Ganglioneuroblastoma tumour when she was seven years old but after fighting back hard from the disease she was able to celebrate by joining record-breaking round-the-world sailor Ellen MacArthur for the race's 76th running on Saturday 1 June 2013.

ANGRY residents have called for a review of the licence for the Kings Arms pub in Orsett after a number of complaints of anti-social behaviour at the Baker Street pub. The licence is set to be reviewed in front of the licensing committee at Thurrock Council on Thursday June 13th.
