DETECTIVES are looking to identify a man who is suspected of conning his way into an elderly woman’s home in Corringham in order to steal from her. The burglary took place in Corringham when the man knocked on the door of a bungalow on Lampits Hill Avenue shortly after 1:30pm on Friday, December 27, stating that another property at the end of her road was flooded and that he needed to enter her home to switch off the water.
POLICE in Grays are appealing for information following a road rage incident in the town just before Christmas. A 33-year-old man was driving to work in his red Vauxhall Corsa on the Orsett Road in Grays at around 7am on Monday December 23. He was allegedly cut up at the traffic lights near the Morrisons store by a silver Ford Focus. The Corsa driver, who is from Rainham, flashed the Focus which started braking.
"WE are continuing to apply this joined-up approach to reducing road deaths and the signs are encouraging, especially if you look back at the figures a decade ago in Essex when we were dealing with 80-100 people dying in the county after being involved in a collision,” said Chief Insp Rachel Nolan. "A large number, if not all, road deaths are avoidable so my roads policing officers and the council’s road safety officers encourage everyone from drivers to cyclists and from pedestrians to motorcyclists to act in a more responsible manner.
CRIME statistics are to be overhauled in an attempt to allay public fears that many alleged offences are never properly investigated by police. The new system will be phased in from the start of the new year in England and Wales.
DETECTIVES are looking to identify four men are who responsible for committing two robberies in the space of minutes and within a mile of each other in Grays. The first attack took place at Grays Convenience Store on Clarence Road at approximately 7.40pm on Saturday, December 21 a young man walked into the shop and threatened a staff member with a knife, forcing him to hand over a two-figure sum of cash in coins, a bottle of alcohol and several packets of same-brand cigarettes.
FIVE people were arrested and 17 uninsured vehicles were seized during an operation in Thurrock to improve road safety and to detect and deter criminals. Operation Talon which brought together specialist units and local officers was carried out over 15 hours on Thursday December 19.
DETECTIVES have renewed an appeal for witnesses after a man was seriously injured when he was attacked at a nightspot in Purfleet. The incident happened at the Circus Tavern at Arterial Road in August but the victim is still unable to work as a result of the pain and trauma of his injuries.
POLICE ARE investigating a burglary after a man overcame the security at a Tilbury school and stole a mobile phone in the middle of the school day. The person was spotted at just after 1pm on Wednesday (December 18th) in the grounds of the Lansdowne Academy in Lansdowne Road, Tilbury.
ESSEX POLICE are investigating a complaint regarding a sex attack in an Ockendon park. A teenage girl reported that she had been assaulted by a male in Quince Tree Park, South Ockendon, on Sunday December 15th between 9pm and 9.30pm.

POLICE want to identify a man caught on CCTV at the time that two expensive watches were stolen from a jewellers. A man had entered Ernest Jones at the Lakeside Shopping Centre in West Thurrock between 9pm and 9.30pm on Wednesday November 20.
POLICE have charged a 16-year-old boy with robbery after a 15-year-old boy had a hat stolen whilst walking along a cycle path between Gilbert Road and Rainbow Road in Chafford Hundred at 7.30pm on Friday December 6.
The 50-year-old, who does not wish to be named, has arthritis and has to rely on his mobility scooter and a walking stick to get about. His case highlights the fact that hate crime can come in a variety of forms be it race, religion, sexual orientation, transgender identity or disability.
KAY Phillips, 26, the partner of the 35-year-old man, and a five-month-old baby, are missing and sought by police. Police are concerned for their welfare but have been unable to make any direct contact with her and are still making inquiries, a spokesperson said.
