A MAN has been charged in connection with a road crash in Bulphan which happened in July 2012. A 22-year-old man from North Woolwich, east London, has been charged with dangerous driving, GBH and making a false statement to obtain insurance, in connection with an rtc on Church Road, Bulphan on Tuesday, July 24.
A TILBURY resident has been ordered to pay fines and costs totalling £275 after admitting breaching a noise abatement notice. On Friday (January 18) Basildon Magistrates’ Court heard that Thurrock Council Environmental Protection Officers were called to the Brisbane House home of Abby Moon on 7 April, last year after neighbours complained of loud amplified music.

DETECTIVE have appealed for information after the "despicable” theft of life savings from a woman aged in her 90s. Two men called at the woman’s home in Aveley and pushed their way inside when she opened the door. While one of the men distracted her by talking to her the second man searched rooms and took a four-figure sum in cash. The two men were last seen running off along the road.
Ward and Ellis appeared at Basildon Magistrates’ Court for sentencing after being found guilty in their absence of causing unnecessary suffering under the Animal Welfare Act, after they failed to attend court on previous occasions. They were both ordered to do 120 hours of community service and fined £1,000 each. Compensation of £250 was ordered to be paid to the dog’s owner.
DETECTIVES have released an E-fit image of a man involved in a burglary at Purfleet in which a woman was assaulted and locked in a room. The victim was alone at her flat in Caspian Way when six men forced their way by breaking open the front door at about 5.30pm on Friday December 28.
ANTI-social behaviour orders have been granted against two Grays women after more than a year of serious and ongoing harassment and disturbance to neighbours in Springfield Road. Kelly Curson, 34 and 37-year-old Tara McGregor were issued with the ASBOs for three years by Basildon Magistrates on Friday (10 January).

POLICE officers in Thurrock are investigating after two incidents where stones have been thrown from the bridge over the M25 near junction 30 and asking parents to ensure that it is not their children committing this dangerous act.

THE SHADOW spokesman on public protection has pledged to take action over the shocking state of detection rates for a number of crimes in Thurrock. A YT report last week revealed 89% of burglaries went unsolved in 2011, along with 88% of sexual offences, 79% of robberies and 72% of vandalisms. This despite, 2835 less crimes (in seven categories alone) on their books since 2006.
AT Basildon Crown Court on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 he pleaded guilty to indecent assault. He was sentenced to four years in prison to run concurrently to the 13-and-a-half-year sentence he is currently serving for other offences. Investigating Officer, DI Jo Williams, said: "The victim is extremely relieved that at last the man who attacked her has been identified and has today admitted his guilt. She is grateful that her case was never closed and is thankful that she will not have to give evidence and can finally get on with her life.”
POLICE seized a van and its £5,000 load of alcohol after the driver was suspected of attempting to avoid paying excise duty.The van was stopped for being overloaded during a routine road safety operation carried out by members of the Essex Police commercial vehicle unit at Thurrock on Thursday, January 3.
TWO men are in custody having been arrested by officers present in a shop during a robbery in Grays. Officers were at the Happy Shopper in Jesmond Road, Grays, at around 9.50pm last night Saturday, January 5, following reports of a theft occurring at around 9.20pm that evening.
