Man in court on attempt rape and threats to kill charges

A MAN will be appearing at Magistrates Court in Chelmsford today (Saturday, October 13) charged with attempted rape, assault of a man and a woman and threats to kill. Tomasz SZCZYGIEL, aged 40 from Oakley Close, Grays is charged following an incident at a flat in Grays on Sunday, September 2.

Police op targets scrap metal thieves

POLICE stopped and checked more than 60 vehicles during an operation to improve road safety and reduce alcohol smuggling and scrap metal theft. Officers from the Essex Police Casualty Reduction and Commercial Vehicle units led the operation on Thursday, October 11 to target suspect cars, vans and HGVs on the M25, A13 and other main roads in Thurrock.

POLICE are searching for four men after a taxi driver was assaulted and robbed in Corringham. The attack happened at 2.50 am at Lampits Hill, Corringham. The driver picked up the fare from Conrad Mews in Stanford-le-Hope. As the car entered the Lampits Hill area, the man was punched and then robbed of £200 and his mobile phone.

Police appeal after large jewellery haul in Grays

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a burglary in Grays. Between 8.30pm and 10.40pm on Saturday September 29, 2012, at Laird Avenue, entry was gained via a rear door. A large amount of jewellery items were stolen.

A 21 year old man from South Ockendon was charged with two counts of giving false details. He was bailed to 11/10/2012. A 24 year old man from Basildon was given a caution for providing false details.

Fine for South Ockendon pub over noise breach

THE LICENSEE of Jack O Lantern Pub, South Ockendon, has been fined £2,000 for breaching a noise abatement notice. Peter Thacker, licensee of the pub in Daiglen Drive, pleaded guilty to the breach which took place in February this year.
