Investigating officer, Pc Jennifer McLean, said: “A witness alerted the shop owner that items were being stolen, but unfortunately they did not leave any details with the shop for us to get a statement from them. If this was you, or if you saw this incident too, your information could prove vital to our investigation, so please get in touch.”
And that includes Thurrock where the FOI revealed that a union jack flag as well as an Essex Police flag where stolen from outside Grays police station.
A total of 3,180 drivers have been tested so far in December, with 120 of them failing the test. Men accounted for 102 of those caught out. During the equivalent period last year, police carried out 5,000 tests, with 180 drivers failing.
Figures show that six motorcyclists were killed in road crashes during 2011, with 17 drivers, seven passengers, 10 pedestrians and one cyclist also dying on the county’s roads. During 2010, 52 people were killed in 51 fatal crashes (12 were motorcyclists).
The victim is a 35 year old man from Grays who was walking to work. He was attacked in Conway Gardens and again in Argent Street, Grays at around 2am this morning (Saturday December 31 2011). Several men pulled up in a car, spoke to him and then assaulted him. They then drove off and returned to assault him again shortly afterwards. The man has serious injuries but not believed to be life-threatening. He was taken to hospital for checks and treatment.

About a week before he was reported missing (precise date not known) he was seen getting into a big black car driven by a black man who is thought to run a nightclub in Ilford, east London. A FORMER Lloyds underwriter pleaded guilty to the criminal damage of a BMW in Stanford-le-Hope. A MOTHER-OF THREE pleaded guilty at Basildon magistrates to refusing to provide a specimen of breath after her car was found on its roof.
Steven Jones, 18, Stour Road, Chadwell St Mary is accused of entering the Tradesmans Entrance in the Globe Industrial Estate on the 22nd July and destroying £22,000 worth of equipment including sinks, basins, baths, toilets, pipeworks and walls as well as the theft of £5,000 worth of copper piping.
Police were contacted shortly after 1am on Christmas Day Sunday, December 25 following reports of a disturbance inside The Oak Public House on Lodge Lane. Officers arrived to find a 22-year-old Tilbury woman with a facial injury.
At 5.15pm on Wednesday, December 21, the victim (a man in his 20s) was sat in his Mercedes car on Lakeside Retail park, near Costa Coffee, when two vehicles circled him before boxing his vehicle in. They then smashed the window, forced him out of the car and hit him, causing no visible injuries. The car, a silver Mercedes C200, was then stolen. The car is worth approximately £10,000.
A POLICE detective appeared in court today charged with fifteen counts of breaching data protection laws. Adrian Moir, 45, Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire made no plea at Basildon magistrates court this morning (Thursday).
ALL CHARGES in relation to a Chadwell St Mary man accused of sending menacing messages in relation to the August riots have been dropped. Steven Jones, (18), Stour Road, Chadwell St Mary, appeared at Basildon Magistrates court in August.
