Smuggled wine seized by Thurrock cops

The lorry stopped for alcohol smuggling was confiscated by HM Customs and is suspected of attempting to evade about £25,000 in import duty. A total of 91 vehicles were stopped and checked and five were seized after the drivers were found to have no insurance. One person was arrested for driving while disqualified and another was arrested for making off without paying for fuel.

A 22-year-old woman was stabbed in the stomach on Wednesday morning, September 14, in Chancellor Road, by a man known to her. The woman was taken to Southend hospital and treated for her injuries.

Cops coldfire for Cancer Research charity in Corringham

Chafford hairdresser in court over Porsche fraud

A CHAFFORD HAIRDRESSER was due to appear in court today accused of fraud after a £54,000 Porsche was allegedly stolen during a car-jacking on the A140. Katy Littleboy, of Swiftsure Road, in Chafford Hundred, Essex, has been charged with four offences following an alleged incident at Stoke Ash, near Eye, in November last year reports the Norfolk Eastern Daily Press.

Police seize £100,000 worth of smuggled alcohol in operation

Two lorries each carrying smuggled alcohol valued at around £100,000 were seized at Thurrock during a road safety operation led by Essex Police’s commercial vehicle unit. The trucks were stopped as part of Operation Mermaid, the national campaign to rid the roads of unsafe or dangerously-driven commercial vehicles.

Couple robbed of £20k watch at home by armed robbers

DETECTIVES in Thurrock have released CCTV images of two men who carried out an armed robbery about 6.30pm Friday, September 9 in the Windsor Avenue area of Grays. A woman aged in her early 60s was forced to hand over a gold Rolex watch, with a diamond encrusted bezel worth around £20,000, when her partner was threatened with a shotgun.

Grays man stabbed outside “Towie” bar

A GRAYS MAN was stabbed outside a bar made famous by the TV sgow "The Only Way is Essex". The 21-year-old man was stabbed outside Nu Bar in Loughton High Road in the early hours of Saturday morning.
