Police are asking for the public’s help to identify four men they wish to speak to in connection with a robbery outside JD Sports in Lakeside Shopping Centre. At 7.15pm on June 30, four suspects approached the victim, who is a 13-year-old boy, and stole his mobile phone from his pocket, worth an estimated £200. The victim was uninjured.
The 60-year-old man from Stanford-le-Hope that was arrested on suspicion of illegal money lending and theft following a multi-agency operation by the East of England England Illegal Money Lending Team, Thurrock Trading Standards and Essex Police on Wednesday (July 20) has been released on police bail, pending further enquiries, until Monday, October 10.
Police located a yellow Mercedes panel van, stolen from Lewisham, in a yard on an industrial site in Motherwell Way, South Stifford this morning. Also in the yard were a number of other stolen vehicles from the Metropolitan police area.

Warrants were executed at a residential and a business property in the Stanford Le Hope area of Essex. During the search documentation, suspected to be linked to illegal money lending and a number of vehicle parts which are suspected to be stolen, was found.
Police are appealing for information about a stabbing in South Ockendon. Ambulance were called to the victim a 23-year-old Lithuanian man, who was found at the Aveley by-pass entrance to Belhus Park at about 3 45 am this morning (Wednesday, July 20). He had sustained stab wounds to his abdomen and was taken to hospital where he has undergone surgery and is currently in a critical condition.
Two drivers who were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving in connection with a fatal road collision in Lampits Hill, Corringham on Thursday, June 23 have had their bail cancelled .
Between 3pm and 11.05pm on Thursday, June 23, suspects gained entry through a rear door and stole an estimated £11,100 worth of items, including designer handbags, soft drinks, jewellery, two TVs and two laptops. £300 damage was caused inside the property.
The pledge came as Sheila Coates from South Essex Rape and Incest Crisis Centre (Sericc) delivered a report to the Safer, Greener Committee.
Ms Coates told the committtee that they had been working with a number of agencies in London regarding fears of a sustained increase in trafficking in the London area.
Police were called to Tesco Express, Drake Rd, Chafford Hundred around 7.20pm on Thursday (July 14) after a man entered the store with a hammer and fled the store with cash. Staff and customers at the store were left shocked but no one was injured. The man is described as white, early 20s about 5ft 10ins tall. He was wearing a multi coloured jacket and jogging bottoms.
FOR THE second time in three days a convenience store in Thurrock has been robbed by masked men. Police received a call at 8.10pm last night (Saturday) to attend at the Co-operative store in Lodge Lane, Grays. Staff reported that two men in balaclavas entered the store brandishing hammers and chisels. They demanded that staff open the tills. After being informed that the tills were locked, the two males prised three tills open, making off with them.
A PURFLEET couple were among a family of housing cheats jailed in a landmark case where the judge delivered the verdict after accusations of jury tampering arose. Riccardo Guthrie, 33, and sister Cosima Guthrie, 25, both of Purfleet, Essex,were jailed for three years and 18 months respectively, while second sister Bianca Guthrie, 35, of Chingford, received a two year jail term reports Inside Housing.
At around 9am on Wednesday July 13, 2011, an unidentified man grabbed a woman in her forties from behind, in Weymouth Drive, Grays, wrestled her to the ground, and stole her handbag. The man then ran off. The handbag contained documents, keys and cards with an estimated total value of around £60.

Investigating officer, Pc Nick May, said: “Thankfully the worker was uninjured, but this would have been very frightening for this man to be faced with two people demanding money. If you were in the area at the time and saw anything, we need to hear from you.” The first suspect was a white man, wearing ankle-length grey trousers and a grey hoodie with red writing on the front. The second suspect was also a white man, wearing blue jeans and a green shell suit top.
In the last financial year the centre's helpline took more than 8,500 calls and undertook more than 2,500 face-to-face counselling and 2,500 advocacy sessions. The £60,000 each year will go towards running costs, but Mrs Coates said they relied on a variety of funding to keep open.
