NEXT WEEK, ten prefabricated 30-metre road bridges will leave Tilbury docks headed to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa district of Pakistan as part of the flood relief effort.

JUST four years ago, Gateway Academy gained just 13% for 5 or more GCSE's A* to C (including English and Maths). At that time, the senior management believed that the new building and the positive approach married with the good will of the community would see those stats improve.
CHAFFORD HUNDRED have broken all their previous records as 79% of students gaining 5 or more A* to C GCSE's (inc Eng/Maths), an amazing 17% improvement on the previous year.
Interviewing the students, it is clear that they put in a great deal of work. We spoke to Lydia Cranefield and Vikki Teasdale. What they stress is the amount of coursework they completed in subjects such as Art and Geography.
The students were queuing up at just before 10am at the Southend Road school to get the results. Once in the hall, they opened their envelopes and sure enough, there were shrieks of delight as they all realised that all those months and years of hard work had come to fruition.
ORMISTON PARK ACADEMY improved their 5 GCSE's A* to C (including English and Maths) by a phenomenal 15% in what may well be seen as a real breakthrough year for the school.
Chafford Hundred are delighted that they have reached the top of the chart. Third in 2008, second in 2009 and now top with an increase of over 17%!
But look at St Clere's, a very very impressive 15% improvement in the year that there Ofsted gained six outstandings!

The line-up was incredible with iconic acts such as Madness getting the over-whelming audience skanking, Florence and the Machine bringing people to tears and Faithless creating a sea of hands raised and pumping the air. Kasabian closed the festival on Sunday and went out with a major bang, with their lead singer declaring ‘This is why you came!’ to their audience.
