Gang Show gets them rolling in the aisles

With a larger cast than recent years it was great to see the energy and eagerness all the newcomers brought to the performance. As always, the show boasted a mix of comedy and well known tunes to keep the audience entertained. From the amusing ‘American Names’ where the youngsters were Bob-ing and Neil-ing to avoid a biff from Biff, to songs from Bugsy Malone and Queen, the whole performance ran without a hitch.

New play area opens in Chafford

CHAFFORD residents and councillors gathered together to celebrate the opening of a new play area in Rainbow Road. Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation (DC), Veoila Mardyke Trust and the community forum have worked together to see the development of the park.

Election 2011: Ward by Ward: Ockendon

Barry came to the fore when he took on the finance portfolio. Some say that his work with Director of Finance Martin Hone laid the foundations for a much more financially sound Thurrock Council. We are inclined to agree with that and Labour should be wary of trying to take too much credit. He is also part of three Tory councillors in one ward that appear to work together as a unit. Whereas in other areas, one does the donkey work and the others get off scott-free (see Homesteads, Chafford for details) the trinity of Carr, Arnold and Johnson work really well.

The sorry saga of SORA continues

Quite frankly most members of the Association do not need a code of conduct to tell them how to behave, courtesy, politeness and good manners is second nature to them, it is you, some members of your Committee and members you invite to make comments about other members who need lessons in how to behave and conduct themselves. I will take no lessons or lectures from you or any member of your Committee as to how I should behave and conduct myself.

Thurrock Lib-Dems: From tiny acorns……

This has not detered Luke Tyson. Luke has decided that this is the time to lay down some roots for the Thurrock Lib Dems. With an impressive fifteen candidates out of sixteen wards, they clearly intend to be around in Thurrock politics for a long time. May 5th may not be too kind to them but Luke and the others are in it for the long haul.

Sunday Comment……Be prepared…..to stand idly by?

What exactly are the roles and responsibilities of a Civic Enforcement Officer? Labour on the march, Tories on the rails? and the Scouts acting out their motto.

Ex-Grays Boss’ Aveley music festival is cancelled

Rocks victory sees promotion a step closer

AS MANAGER John Coventry said after the game: "It is just three points" You can understand John's measured response in the light of the two previous seasons but the Rocks took a massive step towards promotion with this victory against second placed Needham Market.

Eastleigh 3 v 1 Thurrock

A disappointing result for Thurrock keeping them far too close to the relegation zone for comfort, with only four games remaining three of which are against teams in the top five.

Thamesmead Town 0 v 2 Grays Athletic

Thamesmead continued the pressure trying to level. The Momodu's combined well, after a defensive mix up, for the ball to go wide from Gabe. Mick Davis found himself clear and shot from 25 yards to see the ball go just over the bar. Grays were starting to get back into the play and soaked up the attacks. On 25 minutes Danny Bunce picked up the ball and hit it long to Steve Demetriou who's shot deflected off Jared Small into the path of Fontaine who cooly lifted the ball over Mott to put Grays 2 – 0 up on 25 minutes.
