In a prosecution brought by Thurrock Council, Rebecca Pearce, of Freemantle House, Tilbury, the court heard she had wrongly obtained nearly £15,000 between June 2007 and November 2009 from the council and the Department for Work and Pensions.

Chief Inspector Moor said: "One woman walked straight into the path of an on-coming coach. I managed to push her away from it just in time. 19 year old Priscilla Scamp has today, (January 28), been sentenced to a minimum of 18 years imprisonment for the murder of Daniel Thomas at his home in Grays last year. Sentencing HH Judge Gratwicke said that Scamp was a serial liar and she had killed Thomas in a vicious, callous and frenzied attack.

At last nights council meeting, the deep rancour that surrounds the unauthorised lorry park at Howard Tenens in Stifford Road continues as a Belhus resident asked the leader of the council why the 347 residents had not received more support. In a robust defence, the leader of Thurrock Council, cllr John Kent reiterated that the area was being used as an unauthorised lorry park and that two enforcement notices had been issued in relation to the site.
