National research has shown that people with learning disabilities die younger than the general population not due to their impairment but simply due to poor healthcare. CARIADS is a recognised service for carers appointed by Thurrock Council to provide information, advice and support to all adult family carers in Thurrock. CARIADS is provided by a coalition of three local established voluntary sector organisations coming together – Thurrock Mind, Thurrock Lifestyle Solutions (CIC) and Thurrock Centre for Independent Living.
