THURROCK Council has given permission for a two day music festival to take place at Orsett Showground in July. EssexFest is expected to attract up to 10,000 visitors to the area over July 19th and 20th.

It’s based in the lovely Grays fire station hall and all the Police, Firebrigade, First Aiders, Trading Standards, Road Safety come along and support people to work on an action plan for their community safety.
STUDENTS from local schools were given the chance to launch a successful career at an Apprenticeship Fair hosted by Thurrock Council as part of National Apprenticeship Week. At the event, which took place at the Learning Shop on George Street, Grays, on Tuesday 4 March, students met high profile employers, including Thurrock Lifestyle Solutions, Asda, Port of Tilbury, Academy Sports 1 and Wates, all of which have work opportunities coming up over the coming year.

OVER a dozen members of the Thurrock Lifestyle Solutions (TLS) undertook an arduous Firebreak course at Corringham Fire Station recently. The course taught first-aid, working as a team and to have confidence in yourself.
THE VISIT OF HRH Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall to the High House Production Park in Purfleet gave a royal seal of approval to the jewel in the Thurrock renaissance's crown. The royal couple visited the whole site including the National Skills Academy (NSA) and the the Royal Opera House Workshops during their visit.
THE Murder Mystery Evenings at the Thurrock Hotel have proved so popular that the hotel has added a number of new dates during 2014. The first event held in October last year sold out three weeks before the event and the next scheduled Murder Mystery evening on the 7th February has already sold out.

THURROCK'S very own Perri Kiely made a splash on ITV on Saturday when he won the first round of the diving competition. Eighteen-year-old Perri, famous for being part of street dance outfit Diversity performed a stunning dive from the highest (ten-metre) board.
