AVELEY eased their way into the season with a decent goal-less draw against Ware. Ware are now under the guidance of Stuart Nethercott and the former Spurs star is clearly keen to forge a strong side together.

LOCAL companies are being encouraged to “take it outside” by GetIntoFootball Thurrock Officer Faye Lambert as preparations begin for a brand new Thurrock Seven-a-Side Business League every Wednesday from the 3rd-31st August on the 3G pitch at St Cleres School in Butts Lane, Stanford-le-Hope.
Thurrock started their pre season programme with the visit of BSBS playoff winners Ebbsfleet United. The visitors started the brighter but the new look Thurrock side fielding six new debutants created the better chances on the break. The first half remained goalless but Lee Boylan did have a half chance in the 33rd minute just dragging the ball wide of the far post from 10 yards.
FORMER Thurrock Harrier Jessica Judd showed her world class potential after winning a bronze medal at the World Youth Championships.
The 16-year-old former Grays Convent athlete came third in the 800 metres clocking a time of 2m 3.43. America’s Ajee Wilson won in a time of 2m 2.64s.
Bryan was a long standing shareholder and director of the club, and had been involved with GAFC for many years. Midfielder Harry Agombar has rejoined the club having left the club at the end of the 2009/10 season, where he made 20 appearances in all competitions. Since leaving Grays Athletic, Harry was on non-contract terms with Barnet. He played youth team football with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, but was released when he broke his leg. Agombar then went on to join Grays’ youth working his way up into the first-team.
Elle Smith was on top form, achieving a creditable second place in the Under 13 girls 800m but wiping 12 seconds off her personal best. Her team mate for the under 13 girls, Brittany Abbott-Trangmar bagged new PBs in the 200m and long jump. James Pearson went to the UK number one slot with a shot putt 11.20. 1500m runner Gemma Holloway finished first by 300m.

Midfielder Charlie Hurlock signed on for the Blues this evening at The Academy. He started out with Dagenham & Redbridge where he completed a two-year scholarship, before spells with AFC Hornchurch, Barkingside and then Redbridge.
