THE STAFF AT Sainsburys in Chafford Hundred are always involved in good works for charity and Halloween is no exception. This year their chosen charity is BATIAS. YT caught up with the manager, Mike Agha as he showed the latest in his ghoulish garbs.
CHARITY fundraiser Dolly Turner visited St Luke's Hospice this week to donate £900 to the very worthy charity. The money had been raised at the funeral of her husband Alan, who had spent his last days at the hospice a few months ago.

A CANCER charity was boosted by £1,000 thanks to three Thurrock Council workers. The trio, Maxine Harbourne (a student social worker), Paula Gates (a shared care co-ordinator), and Joanne Page (practice manager) are all based at the Culver Centre in South Ockendon, and work in the council’s social services team for disabled children.

ON FRIDAY afternoon, Alan Cockerell and his family went to St Luke's Hospice to hand over a cheque for £750.
The money was given to the family by Purfleet Heritage Museum after an SAS commander dagger owned by Alan's father-in-law, George Denny was stolen from the museum.

TOWIE'S Lucy Meckleburgh lit up the MacMillan coffee morning at Orsett Hall on Friday morning. Resplendent in a lime green dress and trailed by a number of papparazzi, Lucy played host as a large number of friends enjoyed coffee as well as shopping in a number of stalls which certainly had an "Only Way is Essex" feel to them.
THURROCK Community Chest is holding a Gala Night at the Langdon Hills Golf and Country Club on Friday night. From 7.30pm till 12.30am you can enjoy a fine two course meal followed by a cheese board. Then experience the dulcet tones of John Lloyd and his tribute to swing. After the meal and the entertainment come and try your hand at the fun Blackjack tables
On Sunday 14th October 2012, the Rotary Club of Thurrock Gateway has organised a 5 mile run or 3 mile walk in aid of the ‘Global Run 4 Water’ campaign. Entrants will set off from Beacon Field, Dry Street, Laindon Hills, at 1pm. Entry forms and further information can be found on www.rotarythurrockgateway.org. All sponsorship money raised from the event will be donated towards the Rotary’s ‘Global Run 4 Water’ collection to support worldwide water projects.
THERE'S nothing like a hot drink on a cold day, and that is exactly what visitors to Grays Beach Riverside Park were treated to last week when Muggy the mascot came to town. The giant mug who was out and about promoting Macmillan Cancer Support’s upcoming fundraising event World’s Biggest Coffee Morning spent some time on the adventure playground before braving the wind and rain to head up to admire the view over the water.
