Movember going very well at Gable Hall!

THERE IS A plethora of hair furniture around the corridors and classrooms at Gable Hall in Corringham. Led by PE teacher, Andrew Dobson, the staff are raising money for the Essex Air Ambulance.

Pudsey visits Quarry Hill Primary for Children in Need

QUARRY HILL PRIMARY IN Grays never skip an opportunity to help the community; whether it is local or global. The same applies to Greggs the Bakers so it was good to see both working together on Friday for Children in Need. But it was Pudsey who was the centre of attention as staff at Greggs sold cakes and sweets to help those less fortunate.

Arts adventure funded by Lakeside

LAKESIDE Shopping Centre has funded an ArtsAdventure project as one of its 21 Good Deeds. Developed in consultation with staff at a local children’s hospice (Little Havens), carefully selected musicians, writers, dancers and storytellers visited the children for a day and enabled them to take part in stimulating, creative workshops.

Little Havens praise for Dolly’s Christmas puds (but she needs to sell more!)

PETER HALL and the team have nothing but praise for East Tilbury resident Dolly Turner and the Christmas pudding she makes for the Little Havens Hospice. However, the sales have been a little bit slow. She has only had 70 orders so far and needs a lot more!

Thurrock Foodbank set to be launched

"The opportunity to meet the needs of people from within our communities, who are in desperate need of food, is one that we cannot turn our backs on. The experience of Foodbank around the country is that they are enthusiastically supported by Churches and the public, and have a powerful impact upon the recipients of this generosity. In addition, they reflect brilliantly upon the Christian churches and communities which run them.

Hair today gone tomorrow for Harvey’s Ben

To get the scissors on his twenty five inch long hair and leave him with a far shorter number two, he is looking raise £1000 for Children In Need. An assistant accountant at Harveys, Ben is an example of their many philanthropic gestures.

Charity Party Night for Thurrock Community Chest

At a recent gathering of beneficaries and members, YT spoke to the chair, Richard Groome about the work the chest does as well as the three students who are full of praise for the Chest. The Chest is having a Charity Party Night on November 18th. Tickets are only £35. For more information contact [email protected]

Twilight walk on One Tree Hill for Karis

The sponsored walk starts from the ranger's office car park from 6pm. It is open to children of all ages, although parents with smaller children are asked to accompany them. Everyone attending should take a torch and wear rubber boots.

Movember month at Gable Hall

Gable Hall’s male staff are completing a special ‘Movember’ in aid of the Essex Air Ambulance charity. Last year, they raised just under £1000 last year through members of the PE Dept growing moustaches for the month of November.

Lee Window: Boxing for the Karis May Foundation

THERE HAS been and there will be a host of activities on behalf of the Karis May Darling foundation. Lee Window has announced that he will take part in a charity boxing contest at the Circus Tavern in December.

THEY ARE LEGENDARY. Indeed, Dolly is legendary. Indeed, we are starting to think: Has no-one ever nominated East Tilbury based Dolly Turner for a civic award! It is clear that we like her christmas puddings and have done so for years as this has become a traditional feature.

Barbara asks councillors to dig deep for kids to see panto

Portfolio holder, cllr Barbara Rice has asked councillors to do the same again (oh no she hasn't. Enough it is only October-Ed). At last nights (Wed) meeting of the full council, Barbara said: "There were so many young persons who were delighted to get the chance to see the Thameside panto.

Walking in memory of Jordan Porter

JORDAN Porter was an immensely popular young man who tragically died near to his school in Aveley earlier this year. But his parents have kept the flame alive.
