St Luke’s Hospice back October Triathlon

With around 300 expected to get involved the Hospice Triathlon is an experience not to be missed! We want you to swim, cycle and run to help fund St. Luke’s Hospice. This fantastic and challenging event starts and finishes at Blackshots Swimming Pool, Grays. The race starts off with a 400mtr swim in the pool, followed by a 21K cycle and 8K run on-road in Grays and the surrounding areas.

Charity football fundraiser tomorrow for Karis

Hostesses with mostest set for Help for Heroes golf day

A CHARITY golf day to raise money for Help For Heroes takes place next Friday. The event takes place at the Top Meadow Golf Club, in Fen Lane, North Ockendon, starting at 8am until around 3pm. The good people of Brayley Honda in Grays have put up a host of prized including a car for a hole in one.

Corringham couple celebrate Chest prize

A COUPLE from Corringham were celebrating after Mayor of Thurrock Cllr Charlie Curtis pulled their number and won them a new car in Thurrock Community Chest’s annual draw. Cllr Curtis drew the winning ticket at Lakeside Shopping Centre in front of a large crowd, with the winner of the first prize to receive a new Vauxhall Corsa supplied by Tony Levoi of Lakeside.

St Luke’s Hospice Annual Summer Fete

THE HOSPICE'S summer fete is always packed with events and things to do. The weather held off and the crowds gathered for what was a lovely afternoon as well as raising money for the most worthiest of causes in the borough.

THAT hill at North Ockendon is a right so and so. And we were only filming! Hundred of hardy souls got on their bikes and made it round the three courses: 7 miles, 21 miles and 42 miles. Some raced and some simply enjoyed the course as they perambulated around the Orsett, Bulpan countryside.

Event Co-ordinator Ed Pearce from Basildon, has taken on this role this summer and has organised a wide diversity of entertainment for everyone to enjoy. ‘This year we have gone all out with the main attractions including a mouth-watering Hog Roast, BBQ and Indian Cuisine with delicious treats to follow such as Candy Floss, Strawberries and Cream and Popcorn.’

Marks and Spencers help makeover St Lukes Hospice

IT SAYS something about the popularity and dependability of the St Luke's Hospice shops that, even on a Tuesday morning, there was a regular stream of customers shopping at the Grays store. Staff from Marks and Spencer Lakeside came along to the store to help out in various ways. It wasn't a "Mary Queen of Shops" makeover just subtle re-adjustments here and there.
