PLAYING to a sell out audience of over 250, the six finalists battled it out for the title. The 14-acre site is where sets for Royal Opera House (ROH) performances are constructed, and the ROH has announced new apprenticeships in carpentry, art and metalwork starting this September. One young Thurrock man already benefiting from a course at High House is 20-year-old metalwork apprentice Tommy Judd, from Grays, who started his training at High House nearly two years ago after completing a BTEC Level 3 in advanced engineering.

FIRE CREWS have been called to a terraced house in Hampden Road, Grays after a roof collapsed. Crews arriving at the scene have established a cordon and await the arrival of ECFRS' rescue dog Darcy to search the rubble for possible casualties.
