THE STATE of Grays Beach Park appears to have worsened over the weekend.
As the summer holidays began, the beach park had to be cordoned off due to flooding.
FOLLOWING a number of complaints about the misuse of a shelter in Aveley Rec Park, the environment team have removed the structure yesterday (Thursday 18 August).
CARIADS is a recognised service for carers appointed by Thurrock Council to provide information, advice and support to all adult family carers in Thurrock. CARIADS is provided by a coalition of three local established voluntary sector organisations coming together – Thurrock Mind, Thurrock Lifestyle Solutions (CIC) and Thurrock Centre for Independent Living.
THE Big Lunch, organised by Thurrock Council, was held for the sixth year running and there was a general consensus it is getting better year-on-year.Cllr Richard Speight, the council’s portfolio holder for communities, said: “The Big Lunch is a great chance for people to come together, meet and talk to their neighbours and learn about what’s on offer in and around their neighbourhood and this year’s was bigger and better than ever.”
STAFF from NHS Thurrock Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) were on hand to chat to members of the public and answer questions about the work of the local health service at the very well attended Big Lunch event at Grays Town Park on Wednesday 30 July.
THE CCG was one of many local organisations to have a stand at the event which was aimed at bringing the local community together to take advantage of free summer activities for children and families. There were also information stands from local voluntary groups and other health and social care organisations.
FIRE CREWS were called to a fire in a field near to St Chads in Tilbury. Crews reported that one acre of standing crop and stubble was alight. Firefighters used two hose reels, water backpacks and beaters to extinguish the fire by 23:38hrs.

FIRE CREWS were called to 20 tonnes of rubbish on fire in Turnpike Lane, West Tilbury. At 20:12hrs on Wednesday July 30th, crews reported that steady progress was being made at the incident, crews used two hose reels and foam to extinguish the fire.
THE new range of children’s books contains five different language combinations, all identified as the ones most requested by visitors to the library, and include English-Spanish, English-Polish and English-Arabic.
