AS the £9 million Food Court refurbishment at intu Lakeside nears completion, designer footwear and clothing store Footasylum has joined the centre, with L’Occitane and Hugo Boss relocating and signing new leases. Footasylum has opened next to lolaandgrace on level two, L’Occitane has moved to a new location opposite the Champagne bar and Hugo Boss will re-open in its new level two location later this month.
CHILDREN from Treetops School in Grays have walked their way to the top tier of the Beat the Street Thurrock leader board. They are now cheering on other players to make the final tally of the walking game 75,000 miles – three times the original target – when it ends on Tuesday, 22 July.
THE multipurpose specialist cargo handling centre will enable occupiers to share warehousing and transportation, materials handling equipment and labour. Designed to operate 24/7, it will include cross-docking, storage, distribution and multi-user ‘pay-as-you-go’ value added logistics services.
THURROCK Council is helping to renovate shop fronts in four areas affected by empty premises in recent years. The Thurrock shop front improvement scheme provides grants to businesses in Aveley, Socketts Heath, Stanford-le-Hope and South Ockendon.

A MAN who was fined £500 and ordered to pay over £1,000 in costs for allowing his dog to foul in a public area has withdrawn his appeal – incurring even more costs. In December at Basildon Magistrates, 31-year-old Paul Halcrow, of Plymouth Road, Chafford Hundred, was found guilty in his absence of allowing his boxer dog to foul a grassed area near his home. He was fined £500 with costs of £1,210.52, The magistrates also imposed a victim surcharge of £50.
A THURROCK school has gone over to Barking and Dagenham. It was only a few months ago, that Conservative councillors were walking the streets of Stifford Clays, during the local and european election campaign, warning residents that the council were forging closer links with the London borough.
THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE of the Royal Opera House, Alex Beard CBE turned the turf at the new costume workshop at the High House Production Park in Purfleet.
Flanked by chief exec of Thurrock Council, Graham Farrant and principal of South Essex College, Angela O'Donoghue, Mr Beard told the assembled guests that this was another significant moment for Thurrock and the partnership.
THE EAST Tilbury community fun day was held on Saturday July 12th. The fun day brought the East Tilbury, Linford and Stanford-le-Hope communities together for a family day out. There was a variety of stalls including falconry, tractors and dance acts on the main stage.

THE Royal Opera House is working with Music Education Hubs across Essex and East London on its TAKE FIVE Summer School for young instrumentalists and singers. The Summer School for local young people aged 11-18 years takes place at Palmer’s College in Grays from Thursday 24 to Saturday 26 July.
