SUMMER is in full swing at Impulse Leisure with a wide range of activities available for kids in its summer holiday timetable. Fun splash, junior gym, street dance and urban rebounding are just some of the sessions on offer at Impulse’s three local centres in Thurrock, and this summer the team will also be hosting two events at Lakeside Shopping Centre.
FOUR men are due to appear in court today (Friday) after being charged in connection with a series of telephone frauds in Essex and neighbouring counties. All four have been charged with conspiracy to defraud by false representation between March and July this year.
WE have rightly been angered and we have demanded action when there has been evidence of abuse and potential cover-ups. That has now been brought to the Government. It is truly shocking, as the Minister said, that allegations are being made that the Home Office not only failed to investigate evidence that was brought to it, but that crucial documents were lost and others may have been destroyed. The Minister will, I am sure, understand the concerns already expressed of a deliberate attempt to cover up crimes and to protect perpetrators.
COUNCIL services are set to be affected by a planned national public sector union strike on Thursday 10 July. We will try to keep disruption to a minimum but it will not be possible to provide some services, such as household waste and recycling collections. Bagged side waste, for households affected, will be taken on the next collection day - Thursday 17 July.
FIRE CREWS used two jets to tackle a blaze involving a stack of mixed rubbish across an area of approximately 60m x 20m and one metre high. Crews arriving at the scene at just after 1pm on Tuesday reported that the stack was 100 per cent alight.

DETECTIVES are appealing for witnesses to a robbery in Grays. Three men assaulted a man who had been sat in a red Renault Megane on Argent Street near Wouldham Road at 11pm on Friday, June 27 and stole the car keys, paperwork and a starter motor.
FIRE CREWS were called to a fire on the ground floor of a mid-terrace house in Manor Road, Grays at 7pm on Wednesday night. The incident commander reported that the ground floor was 50% alight and 50% smoke logged.
A FEMALE driver was punched in the face "several times" during a vicious attack by a man who was a passenger in a car behind. The attack took place at just before 9.30 am on Wednesday morning.
THE Beavers and their cuddly friends enjoyed a number of activities including cooking yummy marshmallows over a fire, cork guns and a bouncy castle. There was also the chance to create a scarf and woggle so their teddies could be invested.

Growing debt counselling charity Christians Against Poverty (CAP) has partnered with Gates of Praise International Centre, 79 – 83 London Road, Grays to bring its in-depth service to the area.
